Help to loose weight

Quote  |  Reply

Hi,

I'm 38, 157lb and a maintainer ...

I also have PCOS.

I'm finding it so hard to loose even a 1lb.

Weekly exercise consists of 3 x 1000mtr swims weekly and an an hr of aqua-fit.

Plus I have a treadmill I've started to use ..  starting with 30mins 3.5mph brisk walks .

I've really upped the exercise but no results yet !

Any help gladley received

:-)

With PCOS and other insulin-resistant medical conditions 'what you eat' is quite influential on your body-weight.   Have you been advised to change your food choices at all?

no,  I haven't been told to change my diet ..

I think I eat healthy ..   Food diary here is showing a B, I assume thats good.

Get on a low carb diet. Try combining Carbs with protein. Eat foods that are unprocessed. You don't want to remove carbs altogether because then you induce ketosis. Instead just space them out through-out the day. I would also avoid carbs that trigger more hunger. Drink lots of water. Don't eat foods high in saturated fat or trans fat. Don't want to get rid of it but eat healthy fats like nuts or salmon. And of course exercise.

There is also medication that doctors are starting to prescribe to women with PCOS called Metformin. It's supposed to help you with the insulin issue and make weight-loss easier.

There are recipe books out there more guided towards people with Diabetes. It couldn't hurt to check one of those out, make out a menu for the week and see what your results are after that.

This is stuff you probably already know. If anything talk with your doctor.
