Help! low calorie French toast?

I've been having really bad cravings for french toast lately but I know how high in calories it can be. So today I tried making a low calorie version of French toast, but it didn't come out too well. I looked up some recipes and found one with egg whites, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla but it had barely any flavor!

Anyone have a pretty good low-calorie french toast recipe?

Yes! it's very easy

.25 cups egg beaters

1 pack splenda

.25 cups vanilla soymilk

 3 slices of natrues own 14 grain bread

You will need to bake it alittle along with pan frying. after it's done top with bananas, berrys, steamed apples or what ever you want.

There are also sugar free maple syrups out there....I dont know what ones would be available in your area, but they do exist! And they taste pretty much like regular.. :)

Add a pinch of salt to the egg mixture, and maybe put some sugar in it too.  I think French toast tastes so good because of the egg yolks and being fried.  Fat gives so much flavor and if you omit it then you have to add something to make up for it.

I like mine with blackberry fruit spread instead of syrup.

Have you tried using a light sandwich type bread? Then you can do 'french toast' with an egg, couple glugs of milk, and the seasonings you want for under 300 if you are careful with the syrup. Try putting the syrup on the side and 'dipping' your french toast, that way you have more control over the calories from that part.

Here's how mine go:

3 slices of sara lee delights 45 cal a slice bread

1/4 cup egg beaters original

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 packet splenda (sweetens it up)

1/2 tsp cinnamon

2 tablespoons FF milk or vanilla non sweetened almond milk (soy will work too)

Pinch of salt

Delicious! No lies. I eat it with Sugar Free syrup as well, or slice up some strawberries and sprinkle with a little powdered sugar. Does the trick. Pretty much the same recipe as beowulf34319.
