Help with marinade!!!
So, what do I do for calorie content if I marinate chicken overnight- I know the marinade has a total cal count. but obviously the chicken does not soak up all of it. HELP....let me know if you have the answer
Marinade-
3-4 fresh limes squeezed- approx. 1/2 cup
1/4c. Soy sauce
1/4c. Vegetable Oil
1 tbls. Honey
2 teaspoons minced garlic
11/2 teaspoons chili powder- usually use hot sauce a few squirts- I don't have chili powder
I marinate 24oz boneless chicken thighs for the next day
Meal is Grilled chicken tostadas with monteray jack cheese, lettuce tomato, salsa...mmm mmm good.
if you really want to be compulsive about it, i guess you can put the ingredients into the recipe analyzer, measure the total volume, then measure how much is leftover and subtract to find how much was absorbed by your food.
Dope! Your marinating chicken thighs. Hmmmmm, I guess I would then say 1/2 the total calories of the marinade.
Thanks everyone. I always wondered what to do when marinating things- I prefer to marinate, makes the meat tastier, and allows you to eat it without all the extra- like bbq sauce.
Playergirl- If you want the rest of the recipe i'll send it to you....
Oh yeah, and I wont be compulsive about it- just wanted to make sure it wasn't going to mess with the calories too much.
I don't think this is a bad question at all. I don't know if it's a good idea or not, but I always count it as a tablespoon or two (more if it's something thick that sticks more) of the recipe.
Thanks Chris- I don't feel so silly now ![]()
Whenever I marinate I count the total calories of the sauce I use - I figure it's better to over-estimate than under!
That being said, that sounds like a great marinade. Can you send me the recipe?
