We're having a "Harry Potter" themed potluck today at work... and I can smell the aroma of all the yummy goodness just down the hall. The chocolate cupcakes and desserts are screaming, "Ihiiilanniii... eat meeee... eat meeeeeeeeeeeeeee!". I'm having an incredibly hard time keeping myself away. I'm tempted to just splurge today (like I have been for the past week!) and just start again tomorrow.

Oh god, there's chocolate truffles, chocolate cake, pumpkin cookies, butterbeer (whatever that is), watermelon (and other fruits) and so much other stuff that will not shut up!

Help. =(

Imagine what it will be lilke if you do have some of those tempting treats.
It will be AMAZING while you're eating, but I guarantee you before you've swallowed your last bite....you'll feel the bitterness of regret.
You can stay strong!!!!!!  If you need to munch, grab some veggies, or go out for a walk around the building just to get away.
Eat the watermelon...i love that stuff...just get a big bowl or plate of it and sit and eat it...when i think of  sweets...like cupcakes i think the icing is made of LARD its all gonna taste waxy and fatty and salty....just convince yourself it doesn't taste good...
DRINK WATER~~~~~~~~~~~~~ KEEP DRINKING~~~~~~~~~~  NOT DONE YET~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~FINISH THAT BOTTLE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi Ihilani,

Hang in there!  If you absolutely can't resist, why not just take a very small portion - like one small truffle or a bite or two of the chocolate cake???  It's hard to completely deprive yourself, so maybe if you have just a very small sample - not an entire serving - then you can satisfy your cravings and follow it up by filling yourself up with something more healthy, like the watermelon or other fruits?

Best of luck!

hahaha loosingthepounds...

Ihilani (love your name by the way)

If you already know what to expect, plan for it! Allow yourself one treat, and then plan everything else you're going to eat. I did this this morning with a breakfast at school. I told myself NO donuts, NO sugary juice, but one muffin is ok. It wound up being 210 cals (ouch!) but that was most of my breakfast, and I felt like I could still partake w/o binging. If you're prepared, it will be easier to ward of temptation!

lol I love you guys!

Funny thing is, I'm not really all that hungry. At least I don't think I am. The food just smells and looks so good. -wimpers-
I would start with a plate of fruits and veggies, eat those first and then allow yourself one treat or half of two diffrent ones...I like to take a bite of more than one thing, just a tiny "bite" of two or maybe even three things...and then I'm good, because I got to taste it...  I'm weird that way....But only get the treats once your mostly full on the good stuff. This works for me when I get dragged out to eat at a buffet
You have come way too far in life to take orders from a chocolate cupcake!
Ihilani! Dont worry, u can always beat the cravings! Today they were passing out very Large soft cookies and i didnt take one bc i just acted like they werent in the office.
Ugh. I'm weak, you guys. I totally gave in. I didn't go overboard though. I had one cookie (relatively small cookie) and one brownie piece, about 2"x4". I'm a sucker for brownies.

-sigh- It's 1:16pm and I've already used 865 calories. I have 335 left. I don't know how ANYBODY lives off of just 1200 calories per day, especially a big girl. =(
so today you go over 1200 -- I doubt that is your expenditure, so one day of going over is not going to sabotage anything -- one day of hating life because 1200 calories seems like nothing (I totally agree), can knock you down.

You weren't too terribly bad -- finish today and start right back in tomorrow.  You can do it.

good luck!

Don't splurge today and tehn start againt tommorow! Then you'll keep telling yourself "tommorow" and you'll end up putting it off (talking for experience, here!) I had the same problem when my boyfriend came back from vacation. He brought home these lovely little donut-type things that you can only get from the place he went to. I love them, and it took all I had not to splurge. What i did? I cut it in fours. I had 1/4th of it. And then I got stupid, and ate another piece. But it's not that bad, because I ate it, felt happy, and still guilty, so I ran a 2 mile run, which is quite enough to burn that and a little more off. If you really CANT resist, make it small portioned; or just have ONE cupcake. You deserve to treat yourself once in a while, and after you've treated yourself to a cupcake, treat yourself to some exercise! On those days when you simply cant resist, i exercise. My suggestion is at the party or wahtever, drink water and try to stay away from it. Bring your own healthy snacks. But if thats not working and you DO happen to take a cupcake, when you get home, take your dog for a nice, long walk. Or go for a run. You will feel good about getting rid of it. But really, you've come TOO FAR to just throw it away. Don't say "tommorow".

TRY AND BEAT THE CRAVINGS!

goodluck:)

ps: If you chose to work it off, don't overwork yourself. If you exercise more than you eat, it's just as unhleathy and not eating at all. Don't overwork!
