Help me Name my new PUPPY!!!!!
Ok c-c.com members, I got some puppy questions for you!
Please check my photos so you can see what he looks like.
#1 What should we name our new puppy? It's a boy, and he is feisty, Sweet, tiny as all heck and a whiner. He wants to be carried all the time. We went on a family walk last night and he started crying half way on the walk. My daughter carried him the rest the way (it is her puppy, daddy got him for HER). I want him to have a strong name. Since he is so little, he needs a big fierce name. I wanted to name him ?killer?, but my hubby said no way. Then i said Neapolian, again HE HATED IT! So help!
#2 What kind of dog is he? The person who gave him to my hubby said it was a poodle. But he doesn't look like a poodle to me. BUT HONESTLY I HAVE NO CLUE. Supposedly he is a pure breed of what ever breed he is. Like i care, he was free and is cute as pile of cotton, lol!
#3 How much should a puppy of X breed eat? Is there a general amount small dogs should eat each day? I don't want him to be fat slob of a dog (i am fat enough for the whole family).
#4 HOW THE HECK DO YOU POTTY TRAIN LITTLE DOGS?
Thanks you guys. stef

My niece uses blue pads, if you have seen them you'll know what they are.

you could name him Manson...
or Sam, for Son of Sam, whose dog told him who to kill?
I'd call him an LWD- little white dog. I have a BBD (big black dog). it's hard to tell what they are until they grow up.
here's a link to calories and dogs- who knew?
try i-love-dogs.com and barkbytes.com for general tips

hmmm, cotton... gin. i'd call it gin.
hmm... how about "Mafioso"....he he he!
I think gin is a cute idea... until someone nicknames the poor boy "ginny" and then he's stuck w/ a girl's name! Unless you nickname him "gin-boy" or something... I don't know how to keep a name to one syllable (sp?). lol.
How about Diogi? (Say it slowly..and out loud) :D
your new puppy is adorable! I think the breed is a Bichon Frise. Look it up online and you will see some pics.

Don't ask me...I named my cat "Mr. Kitty" and all my fish are named after Star Wars characters. But a dog suggestion? How about "smeagol"? Then you can run around calling him your "precioussss" hehe...that'd be funny!
Cuervo.... he he he You do live in Mexico.. I think it is a Bichon Frise.. My aunt has one.. they do NOT shed!! Awesome!
Yup, looks like a bishon to me. I knew one once called popcorn...
Small dogs can be difficult to train and difficult to potty train. The blue wee pads are good if you have to leave the pup alone during the day, but I'm guessing you'd like to have the dog pee outside...
What we did with our dog (she's a Corgi) is we'd take her outside often and always use the same door. Less confusion the better! Every single time we went outside, I'd ring a small bell and say 'outside'. I'd leave this bell hanging from the door knob at a height just enough off the ground so the dog could reach it. This is all done so the dog can recognize a few things; This is the door to outside. This bell means this door will open so I can go out. The word 'outside' means we're going outside. Now your dog can't talk, but she can learn to ring a bell. Show her a few times. Show her where it is and how she can bump it to make it ring. When she rings it praise and reward her, and let her out! Same thing when she is outside and makes a potty, praise and reward her for doing it outside. This has to be the best pet trick in the book to get your dog to use a 'door bell' when she needs to go out. So much better than barking, scratching, and puddles by the door!

aww That's so cute! I want a puppy!
I vote Ryu- it means Dragon in Japanese, I think. It's a strong name, but it also rolls of the tongue pretty easily ^^

Sounds like a cute puppy. How about Max (Maxamillion sp?) Wasn't there a famous Mexican General named that?
I adopted my baby, 15 year old collie/st bernard mix, from the pound 10 years ago on the day he was to be put to sleep. Braveheart the movie was out at the time and I thought Wallace was a good name for him. He seems to like it :)
My cats are named Corona (beer) and Phoenix :)
Good Luck.

HK, one of my foster "kids" was named Dioggi. It's a TERRIBLE name. it sounds cute until you saddle some poor animal with it.
OF course, my current "kid" is named Spinach. How is that any better? It's not. We call him the Marvelous Mr. S.
Stef, no matter what you name the darn puppy, you're just gonna end up calling it some nickname anyway, don't sweat it too hard :)

holy crap i'm gonna steal your puppy it's adorable! anyways with my dog (who's like 11 now) we tried the blue pads and they didn't work. you're probably going to have to deal with some 'accidents' for awhile while you're training him. the bell is a really good idea. my dog learned that if he scratches at the sliding screen door when the glass sliding door is open, he could sometimes open it himself! then he learned he could sneak under the fence in one part of the yard, which wasn't too fun for us. i don't really remember how exactly we house trained the dog though. i remember when we first got him we left him chained up outside all day until the neighbors called the cops because he was barking too much.
i love the name spinach! it's so cute!
whatever you do don't name it a common human name, i think that's soooo annoying.

oh.. that dog is totally a bichon frise! :)
unfortunatly to properly train a dog you have to deal with some accidents. don't let them out of your site and when he goes to pee or poo pick him up (cuz he's a tiny little thing) and take him outside. dogs learn very well from their mistakes. never ever rub their noses in the accident.. at most.. if you miss their call of nature, sternly say bad or no and take them right outside. when he is outside and he goes.. praise him like you're a fool.. in a high pitch voice. dogs respond to pitch.. low pitch means they did bad, high pitch means they did good.. :)
as for a name.. i'm always partial to: BRUNO for a tough guy name.. hehe.. :)
