help with oatmeal

my husband wants me to make oatmeal cookies. ok sounds pretty easy but i dont eat oatmeal. so my question is is there a differance between instant oatmeal and the regular oatmeal? all we have is instant oatmeal can i make oatmeal cookies with it?

I wouldn't recommend it.  Most oatmeal cookies call for whole rolled oats.  Your instant oatmeal is more processed to cook easier and will probably not give your cookies the texture you're looking for.  Go pick up a small can of quaker oats, they're only about $1.50, and your husband will be very happy with the results.  ;-)
thank you i had a feeling they were different but thought asking would be best. so now off to store to by oats.
