kitkat-

my favorite snack by the way.

I totaly did the same thing.  Had a heathly breakfast of bacon and eggs a snack of brocolii and was planning to have a big salad for lunch.  That's where it all went wrong.  My brother called and wanted to meet for lunch with my niece.  I don't get to see her much so I agreed.  We ended up at applebee's, I thought ok salad. Yeh right more like a burger (that we split) and the app. sampler platter.  I needed that, but I just had water no pop so that makes the whole thing ok, RIGHT. :0) so now it will be 45 on the elliptical and at least an hour walk if not longer tonight.  to top it all off Friday will be just as bad.  At my work we go out for lunch and drinks on birthdays, and a co-workers is tomorrow.  I don't know of many bars that have salads. There goes the 2 pounds i lost!!!!! :( :( :(
If you used only half as much butter and half and half, and skipped the brownie, you'd have saved nearly 400 calories. That would be enough for a decent small dinner.

Besides, I think 30 pounds in 9 weeks is a very ambitious goal, and you shouldn't be too hard on yourself if you don't reach it. I've only managed to lose 22 in 10 weeks, and guys are supposed to have it easier.
Hey there, don't get discouraged! Please correct me, if I'm wrong: You consumed a total of 1,466 Calories (this includes breakfast & lunch), you then worked out and burned 735 Calories. This leaves you at a total of 731 Calories consumed (after subtracting the amount you worked off). I'm confused. Why are you beating yourself up over this? Maybe I misinterpreted what you wrote, but even if you consumed an extra 870 Calories on top of your 1466, your total calories would only be at 1600.

Now, I'm a little concerned that you have such high expectations of yourself. Ease up a little. Give yourself some breathing room. 30 pounds in nine weeks is a bit extreme. Set little goals for yourself. Soon the little goals will snowball all on their own and you'll meet your goal before you know it.

Don't say that you can't eat out anymore. I believe you can. Eat out, but in moderation. Remove certain items of temptation. Ask Panera to leave off the butter. Cut the bread in half and save it for another day. Get the tempation out of your sight, and it will be leave your mind fairly quickly.

Don't lose hope, Kathy. You've obviously made a decision to be healthier or else you wouldn't be here. You're a strong, capable woman even if you might not feel that way right now. Tell yourself that right now, out loud. Repeat it, with feeling. You can do this. Tomorrow is a new day.

I believe in you!
Haha, kitkat, don't be so hard on yourself. I liked the title of your thread. Hey, at least you realized it and you're honest with yourself.

So, yeah, you could have saved 400 calories. But you COULD have eaten two brownies and used heavy whipping cream. Just a little perspective. A lot of things COULD have happened, but let's look at what DID happen.

And let's deal with it. Only thing we can do is brush ourselves off and try our best to make sure it doesn't happen again. Next time, at Panera, stay away from that pastry counter! Stick with just half a salad, and don't even get that free side thing they give you. Unless you want to get the apple. But why waste calories on the enormous rock-hard sourdough loaf? Come on. If it needs butter, it's not worth it. ;)

You guys all totally rock, by the way!

You are all correct.

Yes, I can eat out, and make better choices.

And, I LOVE MY half and half in my coffee in the AM.  And, I LOVE MY COFFEE.  It is my vice that I must have.  The brownie I could have definately skipped.  The devil made me do it.

OK, so I am having a big plate of fruit for supper and some celery and carrots, with my cucumber dill veggie dip.

I'll be happy with 20-25 pounds off, but I sure would like 30 off by our 9 weeks!!!  :)

Back to positive healthy forward thinking thought processing.

Here are my two cents on this. "Do not give yourself deadlines" leave those for work...

In my experience I found out when you give yourself a tight deadline of losing an ambitious amount, you get discouraged half way through and never even finish the whole duration of what you committed yourself too.

Re-word your commitment, instead of saying ?I want to loose 30 lbs in 9 weeks" say  " I am committing myself to eating healthy for 9 weeks and see what happens" what is 9 weeks from your long life any way..

The psychology behind it, is that you do not feel like you have you watch what you eat for ever, there is an end in sight and a very close one mind you, in the same time you are really developing good eating habits.

When the 9 weeks are over you are absolutely certain to have lost some weight and developed better eating habits. At that point, the ball is in your court, continue to eat healthy and continue to loose weight gradually .. or go back to your old ways, feel bad about yourself and gain the weight back..

Try it .. it certainly was the turning point in my dieting life .. it made all the difference ..
Are you calculating your half-half at the right calorie amount?  Seems like 200 calories is a lot.  A tablespoon is 20 calories.  A cup is like 357.
a couple months after giving birth to my daughter,  i weighed 207...my goal was to weigh 135 by april 2nd her b-day.....I weigh 164 right now.....at first about a month ago it hit me that i was not going to reach my goal...but you know what? I learned how to eat healthy...how to watch what i eat....how to control my snacking....CC also gave me the motivation to workout again...my husband joined me mid through my journey and he lost over 20 pounds!  I guess my point is that you are going to feel discouraged and your are going to have ups and downs and you are going to try to sert unrealistic goals along the way...but as long as you learn something about your self and realze that you are not alone in this struggle! and i know this sounds familiar....but DO IT FOR YOUR HEALTH FIRST AND FOR MOST! and personally think you will succeed!
also--not to be a downer but youre trying to lose more than 3 lbs a week which isn't really healthy
