Some help, please?
Hi all! I tried posting this before, but my computer froze. :/
Well, since I don't feel like typing every little detail up again, long story short:
I'm a 15 year old girl (16 in about 6 months), 5'1.5"-2", and I need to gain about 10 lbs by mid-early December. The scales at the doctor's office read about 95 at my check in, so I'm hoping to hit about 105 lbs. I originally lost the weight during school, since it was a stressful year for me, and I deal with stress by, well, not eating. And yes, I am working on learning how to cope with this stress so I don't become even more of a black cloud hanging over everyone's shoulder. :/ I enjoy yoga so far.
I run every other day, for about 30 minutes, at around a pace of 10-11 minutes per mile. On my off-days, I only do about 30 or so minutes of "Wii Fit." When I tried to put in my info for both "light" and "moderate" activity, I got between 1900 and 2100 calories as my gaining goal. But the scale on Wii Fit says I weigh about 91 lbs now, so I don't know.
Here we go... I am asking for your expert opinion on this matter! How many calories should I intake per day to get my goal weight by December, and how much exercise should I do to avoid gaining too much weight (or just to get my 30 minutes in each day.) Should I stop running and only walk and do about 30 minutes or so of Wii Fit (which consists of basically some yoga, strenght training, and aerobics, or running in place and such)? And will gaining body fat be normal, because ever since I stopped running every day, I've noticed some fat where my chin and stomach is. Will it regulate once I get my goal weight so I'm not a twiggy top and a bigger bottom? Sorry for all the questions, and please help! If I don't gain this weight, I'll be in even more trouble with my parents! I want to be healthy looking again, not some anorexic-looking twig. :(
let's just say you want to gain 3 pounds a month for simplicity, that's .75 pounds a week gained...so that's an extra 375 calories over maintenance a day.
you burn 1900 calories with less than an hour of activity and closer to 2200 with 1 hour of activity. according to
http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html
I would say only do 30 minutes of activity and add 375 calories to 1900 to get to 2275 calories a day.
I hope this helps!!
Ok, thank you so much for helping! ![]()
Hi. I am glad you are working on coping skills. Hopefully this year at school you can get through it in a healthy way. I think until one reaches a healthy weight walking, yoga should be only activities. It is just too dangerous to be running with a malnurished body. You are very young and you need calories for not only repair, weight gain, but still growing. Everyone gains weight in different areas but usually it will even out if you remain healthy. Can you set your self up with a meal plan? Have you looked on here for some examples under the eating post?
What is a quick way to burn calories?
