I am currently moderately obese(6'5, 675 lbs.) would it be safe for me to go on a 500 cal. a day diet?

the easiest way to answer your question is no. you need to go to a doctor/nutritionist immediatly to figure out the best way to go about losing weight the way that's best for you. no one should be eating 500 calories a day no matter how much they weigh. its about making changes for life, not drastic and unrealistic ones that will just mess up your body. good luck on your new journey!
for sure go to a doctor and ask them for help
and good luck :)
and good luck :)
actually... i am a doctor
you can use the toold here to determine how much you should be eating to lose at a healthy weight. a male has to eat AT LEAST 1500 cals a day to funcion properly. a safe deficit would be between 500-1000 cals a day.
good luck:)
good luck:)
Nathan,
If you are a doctor, then you should know that a 500cal a day diet is far too restrictive for your gender and body type. Although I am not a doctor, I suggest that you look into reducing your calories to 3000 or 2500 (use the tools that CC provide) and start doing some gently exercises such as 15 minutes of walking a day (and not on your rounds), and build it up to fast walking and then jogging.
Also, when you feel ready, you really should join a gym. In my gym, a guy lost a load of weight by training on the cross trainer (eppilictical).
Hope this helps & best of luck!

I am curious. Have you ever tracked how many calories a day you eat to maintain your current weight?
I think the OP is a troll.
