HELP! (pleasssse)
hello all,
i recently lost 30 lbs to reach my initial goal weight of 125lbs, (I'm 5'7, bytheway) and i've been maintaining between 125-130 for the past 6 months now.
HOWEVER, it's not exactly what i expected..
i still have my pooch, and love handles, and in generally i just feel "flabby"
i lost the weight without any real excersize, but i am a full time waitress so i did get PLENTY of cardio just by going to work everyday.
i just desperately want a flat stomach and a "tight" body, so my question is,
if i just keep doing what i'm doing to lose say another 10-15lbs would i lose the flab? or do i need to start excersizing to achieve this? sit ups, push ups, etc?
if so, what do you think i should start doing?
any help will be much appreciated!!
I think for your height, you're probably at a correct weight and, if you lose 10-15 lb more you'll be very much underweight. Now is the time to start some strength and toning exercises which will firm up the flab in no time.
If you gain 10-15 pounds of muscle, you can lose that 10-15 pound of flub without being underweight. I'd say really work your core and your tighs, as they gain muscle well and don't give you a bulked up look. Plus, who doesn't love a toned belly and tighs?
Use the tools here to figure out what a healthy weight is for your height; you seem to have a somewhat unrealistic sense of what it means to be at a healthy weight.
You won't change your current weight much if you start eating at maintenance now and working your muscles more. You'll LOOK thinner, however, and BE smaller b/c the muscle you'll build will replace remaining fat, and it weighs more while taking up less space (ie, greater density).
If you lose another 10-15 lbs, not only will it make you underweight, but you probably won't lose the flab. You might wanna do some strength training to get rid of the flab and tone up the midsection.
Thats what happens when you lose weight without maintaining muscle/lifting = you become 'skinny fat'. Thin, but no muscle tone.
You probably lost some muscle with the fat since you weren't doing any muscle maintenance/lifting exercises. If you just lose more weight, you'll just end up a smaller version of the same body shape = more skinnyfat.
You need to take up some weight lifting.
*sigh* k, im 14 and just recovered anorexia......im 120! (5/4 - 5/5) even when i was like RIGHT down, i still had a pooch, it was just embedded inwards further than my hip bones. some people are wired that way, we aren't mchines, we don't all come out alike or 'perfect' technically there is no 'perfect'.
women especially need a certian amount of body-fat to have periods or function properly, more so than men.
you can't have a 'no - fat' body there is no such thing unless your supe unhealthy or super athletic, you are neither and don't want to be neither.
if you want more muscle, increase tone and 'appearance which doesn't matter' (which weighs more than fat....anyway) yeah do sit ups strengh resistance exercises......
pilates is a miracle
