quick---eat an apple and a piece of string cheese before you go, order the smallest thing on the menu, and only take a few bites. give the rest away to someone else. get diet soda, and ask if they have any alternatives for fries. some places have substitutes like carrots or applesauce.
Also, cut your burger in halfs or quarters and consume ONLY one piece
at a time, then think about whether you really need to eat the next
piece.

How about NOT ordering a cheesburger? Do they have grilled chicken sandwiches on the menu? Maybe a nice salad?
I went to their website and looked at their menu for ya...
What about the Grilled Caribbean Chicken sandwich? Tell them to hold the cheese, and that sounds pretty healthy. Get their vegetable of the day as a side instead of fries.
Another option: St. Bart's Citrus Chicken. Stick with the rice, or get a vegetable instead. The tilapia is a good option, too. Tell them to go easy on the butter. :) Or the BBQ shrimp!
See? You dun' have to get a burger. :) Have fun.

thanks for all the help! but I ended up comvincing my dad that we
should go to red lobster and i got grilled tilapia w/veggies and baked
potatoe. but then my dad was like obsessing over this free dessert
ticket he had to borders (random) and like made me feel like an idiot
as i refused it nine million times.
blechhh, i hate that i get so easily embaressed about my dieting- but id rather be embaressed then have to eat all those calories.

I completely understand how you feel. At school, my girlfriends always want to go out to eat at unheatlhy places (such as CHINESE BUFFET), and I always so no. However, they have started to get mad at me. I feel so guilty about ditching my friends. So finally, I agreed to go for lunch. When I was there, all I had was a bowl of hot & sour soup (which was pretty substantial, having tofu and vegetables), and a few pieces of sushi. They were shocked that was all I ate, but they were still glad I went with them.
It's hard to eat out at places that don't provide nutrition info. What I'll often do if I'm REALLY feeling the need to find out the calories in a particular dish from a restaurant, I'll call in to speak with a manager, and have them basically tell me the ingredients they use in the dish and the amounts of them they use. Then I use calorie count to add up all those ingredients and their serving sizes. A lot of effort, I know, but If you're really trying to watch those oils and extra calories, it's worth a try.
if you get a burger eat it without 1 or both of the buns with a knife and fork
I don't get to go out to eat often, so when I do, its usually a special occasion or something. I think it is important that you don't let a diet control your day or what you do. Pick the healthiest thing on the menu that you WANT to eat. Other than that, don't worry about it. One dinner is not going to sabatage your diet. I personally think, in my own experience, if you don't let yourself have that OCCASIONAL dinner at a restaurant, party, or whereever without obsessing about cals, then it'll never work long-term.
Don't worry about it. How often does he really take you out for a treat? I say, go, get something you WANT (don't go over the top by "biggy sizing"), get a diet coke to drink, and ENJOY what you get! This happened to me yesterday. Me and my parents were moving my stuff (from one apartment to another) and it took allll day because I ahve so much furniture. By the end of it all, we were all famished and had a two hour drive ahead of us, so Dad just wanted to grab something quick and get on the road, so we swung by McDonalds. I know it wasn't healthy, but I got what I wanted (the BLT Deli sandwich with a meal, and a diet coke) and accepted it as my "cheat day". I don't even want to know how many cals were in it, and I am not about to worry about it, justg et back on track right after the meal! Don't eat garbage all night because of it either! A bad meal and a bad day of eating are very very different!
Go, eat what you want, and enjoy! Don't beat yourself up over it!

geeze I just looked at the date on the original tread! Haha, I guess the last couple replied were a bit late eh? Oh well, I'm sure this problem comes up often and can be of help to someone else!
htracey-
I bet you burned off all the calories anyways from doing that moving! Especially if it was all day. No doubt you burned off those calories :-)
