Help with the size of oranges and apples

Quote  |  Reply

The site says 2 5/8 for a navel or florida orange however i'm confused as that sounds to me like the size of a tangerine. Can someone please show me what size of orange that looks like as I cant seem to picture it. I'm afraid I may not be counting enough calories. Thanks in advance. Same with apples.

When in doubt, use a scale.

I don't have one but would be a good purchase sometime when I get some money together. Thanks

It means diameter. If you cut up your oranges into wedges, cut it in half first. Then, grab a ruler and measure directly down the center from top to bottom.

thanks muttlover..........I thought that's what it meant and am sure now that what I was counting as one is actually 1.5 oranges .............grrrrrr lol

Its been awhile since I've had to do anything with diameters and such. I was worrying just like you and had to google diameter to be certain. Luckily I found a scale in my mom's cabinet one day and she said I could have it. Measuring things is still new to me.
