Help with Stomach Fat Pouch !

Quote  |  Reply

How do you lose weight off your stomach and upper thights?  I am eating 1250 calories a day. I am not a vegertain and I only eat fish and dairy and any fruit and vegetables.   I am 5'1 and 165 pounds.  I carry the weight in my breasts, upper thigh and mostly in my stomach.  Its is pouchie since I been working out.  I do the treadmill anywhere from one half hour to two hours a day and the ball I do 40 sit ups a day and I do 20 crunches laying on the ground and going up into a v shape.  I am slowly losing weight but not in my stomach.  Can someone give me some help here ?   I do not have acess to a gym or a pool  I  can not afford them.  I totally changed my eating habits and staying away from junk food.

Sorry dude....your stomach will go when its time....you can't speed the process unless you opt for cosmetic surgery......usually though its one of the first parts of the body to slim down since its the place with the most fat cells, but if your genetic tendency is to hold on to your stomach fat, then it could be the last thing to go.  As you approach 20% body fat, you'll notice that you're probably losing weight proportionately and there won't be much to worry about.

Alrighty JarredWayne.  I am female by the way.... *laughs* not a dude last time I checked my breasts.    So you do not know of anymore sorta exercises I can do ?  I started belly dancing again and that should help too. I am just very well endowed in my breast and my tummy is fat.  I hate it....  I want to slim way down.

FWIW, friends of mine who have belly danced have said that it actually THICKENED their midsection, because of the type of movement that's being done.

Do you do any swimming? I find that helps my belly flab quite a bit.

Slow and steady wins the race..

One day, my friend, you will have that flat tummy. One day!

Just be patient Smile

This is going to sound random, but I read an article that mentioned that the best way to get a flat stomach is to do lunges and squats. The reason is that the muscles that you work in those movements are large, and working large muscle groups will help you burn more fat over time. Additionally, if you have a layer of fat covering the abdominal muscles, doing lots of crunches won't get rid of that layer of fat. It can, however, sometimes make those muscles bugger, which will actually make your stomach look bigger.

I have friends who belly dance and they have the flattest, toned-est (is that a word?) stomachs and most shapely waists you will ever see, so belly-dancing doesn't necessarily thicken your mid-section.

Try the excersices in this article: www.t-nation.com/readArticle.do?id+1305014 I hope this helps.

ok. This is going to sound crazy, but my friend recommended me an exercise video on spikedhumor.com (don't laugh). It's really good, and i only do about 1/4 to 1/2 of the exercises in the video.

I swear by it. Even though it might not reduce the circumference of your tummy, it definitely increases its tone! Hope this helps. (:

forestfey, I too suffer the same fate.  However, from what I've been told you need to do lots of cardio (which you are doing).  The interesting piece of info I got was that you lose weight in the reverse you gained it.  I gained in my stomache first, so that'll be the last place I'll lose it.

I believe it has something to do with the longer the fat cells are there, the more stubborn they are to come off.

I did the South Beach Diet once and I lost noticably in all the areas you mentioned. It was the only time in my entire life I lost weight in my breasts. I couldn't believe my hips and stomach were smaller but they were, to the point my friends and coworkers noticed. I followed the diet exactly as developed. I had heard the first two weeks are very difficult, but surprisingly I didn't find them to be - even eliminating caffeine, chocolate and alcohol. If South Beach doesn't appeal to you, then I agree with others, that you will lose it in time, just takes patience. Good luck! :-)

I second lunges and squats. Those are total body exercises. Pick up some weights; it's a little more efficient at burning fat. Don't focus so much on crunches and all that b/c as another person said, it's going to build muscle, but if it's under a layer of fat, it won't really do anything. oh yes, and you will need patience :)

good luck :)

Have you been measuring your waist every month or so? You're probably losing there too but since it's your problem area it just isn't as noticable. It will take time so hang in there. Good luck!

My sister calls it her "front butt".  LOL
