help on a workout routine

Quote  |  Reply

Me and my dw have been dong a workout routine for about 2 or 3 months now. While it has been working for us I was wondering if we couldn't be doing better. We have a pretty large collection of taebo videos and have been using them about 5 or 6 times a week. We alternate between the 30 minute cardio (with and without bands or hand/ankle weights) and his more intense hour long basic, strength, power, ultimate, and abs videos. We occasionally go for walks and jogs ,but we don't lift weights. My question is should we be lifting weights? And when should we do so? For ex would this be good

Mon

Cardio (30 or 45 min version) weights

Tue

Basic (hour long)

Wed

Cardio and then lift weights

Thu

Strength (with ankle and leg weights)

Fri Cardio and weights

Sat ultimate with bands

Sun off?

What do you guys think?

I would say don't mess with ankle or hand weights, because from what I've read, those are more likely to do harm than help you.

If you want a weight program, one great resource is New Rules of Lifting (there is a "for Women" version of the book, but the original isn't only for men).

The other thing is to take a day off between lifting days. For instance, I'll usually do:

Mon - Upper body, Wed - Lower body, Fri - Upper, Mon - Lower, Wed - Upper, Fri - Lower

If you're interested in a weight lifting program, check out bodyforlife.com - I've been doing it for a couple months now, and I'm already seeing results.  It's basically intense 45min workouts, 6 days a week.  The first day you do upper body, the next aerobic, the next lower body, the next aerobic, then repeat.  I don't follow their diet plan very closely, but my buddy who is has dropped 15 lbs already in two months.  The great thing is that you get enough information from the website that you don't have to pay for anything.

thanks fo the info, should I count the taebo as aerobics or cardio or is to intense for that?
