...is if when you looked at your logs you could look at the total colaories burned and the total calories consumed next to each other and it showed you what your deficit/excess calorie intake was over time.

I always forget waht my base rate calorie use is and then can't figure out what the difference is over a week.  Maths isn't my strong point.  I just think it would be quite a motivation if you got to the end of a week, clicked on the page and you could see that you'd managed to create a 3500 calorie deficit that week!

Is it just me that thinks that would be good?

Oh and you can chose the time period it shows you, in the same way you can chose the dates that it shows you your food diary.

I think there should be a 'deficit' log, there's an activity log, but once the day is over, this log doesn't take into account the calories would burn anyway, so unless you track deficits on your own, you would manually have to figure it out if you wanted to know and compair that to what you ate....

Deficit log, all the way.

I agree that would be great.  One reason it would help me is that I have use Friday as my weekly "Cheat Day," and it would be terrific if I could just look at my log and see how much my deficit has been throughout the week and what effect, if any, drinking a few beers or having key lime pie, or whatever will have on my weekly deficit.

i don't count or log activity anymore, because i have a pretty good handle on it, but i think this is a great idea.  aside from the benefits mentioned, it would make it abundantly clear if we were over- or under-estimating calories burned (if the logs show a deficit of 7000 over two weeks, but there's no weight loss, then obviously the numbers aren't right).

Huge vote from me here also. In my opinion there are only two things actually MISSING from this site, and this is the big one.

[the other is being able to change amounts of recipes or tagged items when you re-add them, since I teased, but this one seems both simpler and more universally useful]

Agreed--deficit log or some other way to show deficits over a period of time.  Good call!!!

You could go build your own website.

I'm horrible at trying to figure out my deficit too.  A deficit log would be a HUGE bonus to this site and I think would help many people, especially the ones that aren't math pros, or the people who don't even realize you have to make sure not to have TOO huge a deficit.

So, who do we talk to about making a request or change in the website?

Maybe if enough people beg and plead..

 Nope don't know how.

I don't think we're complaining that CC is a bad site, just that if they wanted to add some features, that we are willing to give some suggestions.

I believe this is a good idea also.  There is a forum called Calorie Count I wonder if that's the place to ask about this topic.

Have any of you used the contact link at the bottom of the page to submit your suggestions directly to the site programers?  You could link this thead, and also use the forum search at the top of this forum, just under the Forum title, to find the many other posts on this very topic.

I know it's been mentioned many times before, and everybody agrees it would be really nice.  However, I don't know if it's being worked on.

This is our site and many of the features were inspired by the suggestions of CC members.

Well I'm glad that I'm not alone in my thinking then!  Hmmm...now how to get this suggestions put into place.  Will see what I can do! x

I went ahead and contacted CC and gave them my opinion.  They said they are trying to figure out how to improve CC.  Maybe more people should contact them so they'll realize how important this is to so many of us.
