Any helpful hints that you can think of that are not in books or said by Martha.

Mine: If you want your lettuce to really last, wrap it in paper towel. It will stay fresh and crips for 2 - 3 weeks.

trim the ends off asparagus and place in a glass of water like you would flowers, will keep from getting slimy for quite awhile

Alton Brown taught me that if your leafy vegetables wilt, put them in water with a bit of vinegar.  They crisp up pretty quick.

thats an awesome tip about the asparagus.  you can also do that with broccoli if its gone a bit limp. chop the bottom of the stalk off and chuck it in a glass of water :)

If you need to write a research paper, find someone who knows  a lot about that particular subject and interview them, then find a bunch of sources that you wouldn't have been able to understand if you'd have tried to get the info from them!

(Not really related, but I was thinking that it could be helpful to others.)

Ask the guy what his name is BEFORE you get undressed so you know what name to scream out if you need to fake it.

lol

Don't go commando when it's windy outside.  Rule only applies when one is wearing a skirt or a dress.
Remember ladies, front to back.  You don't want to track mud into your clean house.

Lol!

put a piece of white bread in the cookie jar to keep the cookies soft and moist- the bread will be hard as a rock though??

If you oversalt a soup add a whole peeled potato and then remove the tater before serving

if you spill a glass of red wine, pour a whole lot of salt on it and leave it for several hours, then vacuum.

okay, it didn't work on my parents' light grey carpet, but maybe if your carpet is a darker colour....

lol...know him well enough to know his first and last name and don't get naked until you don't need to fake a thing!

or you could date men with the same name, then when you call him you will never make a mistake.

This one is tried and true...wrap your celery in aluminum foil and it will stay fresh and crisp forever...I have actually had the same stalk for at least two months now.  I swear.

Dbacker, I have heard and tried that trick a couple of times...either I am doing something wrong or it is a line of crap! Tongue out

Edited to mean:  The tater trick.

You know how you have to open a can of tomato paste when you only need one tablespoon? Well you can scoop the rest out in tablespoon increments and put them in a plastic baggie, or any air tight container and pop them in the freezer.  They stay good frozen for a really long time, and they'll be pre-measured for less mess the next time a recipe calls for paste.

Putting a piece of bread in hard brown sugar for a day or so will make it soft again. It works.

Always try on swim wear and undergarments with your panties on.
A thin layer of mayonnaise will keep your bun from getting soggywhen you plop that burger on.
