I feel better. I'm not the only one?
Nothing horrible yet today :) but I can binge on these things:

  • soft, sugary candy (Tootsie Rolls are particularly evil)
  • cookies
  • cake, brownies and the like
  • pies and other pastries
See a pattern yet? ;)  I'm trying to keep my 'calorie purchases' good this season, although with three Christmas parties tonight and two tomorrow, I'm going to have my work cut out for me.

I try not to condemn myself for what I eat though -- doesn't really help me do better, you know?  What helps more is if I applaud my good choices, and just make fully conscious decisions about foods I'm likely to binge on.
I'm going to confess my biggest binge:

I was going to school in Italy at the time, and it all started with a bowl of three scoops of chocolate and hazlenut gelato with these pirouette cookies...

then I had a fresh mozzerella, tomato and basil sandwich on ciabatta bread with plenty of olive oil

then I had some Kinder surprise chocolate/hazlenut bars and a Bounty coconut chocolate bar

then I had a panino with prosciutto and asiago cheese warmed on ciabatta

then I walked to another gelateria and had a gelato cone

then I walked to ANOTHER gelateria and had ANOTHER gelato cone, back to back

I could barely make the walk home. I ran out of money that day; I ended up spending it all on food. I didn't even have enough to buy cigarettes. The ATM machine ate my card. It was a bad day.
foods the send me right over the edge in terms of binging..  like.. no control whatsoever...

chocolate cake

brownies

home made chocolate chip cookies

nanaimo bars (my canadian friends will know)

whipped cream on anything

paper thin sugar cookies rolled into a tube and one end dipped in chocolate (dont know what they are called)

Im sure there is more but you get the drift...
macaroni and cheese

Cupcakes

nibs licorice

lay's potatoe chips

deep dish chicago style pizza

chicken fingers
muffins cookies bread............
i choose not to buy these anymore, but if i were to purchase a bag of lindor truffles, i guarantee you that they would be devoured in a matter of hours.
Are we talking about what we typically binge on? or what we ate (eat) in 1 bingeing day/episode?

Typically my bingeing foods end up being stuff I consider comfort food - cheesy stuff, or starchy stuff like potatoes.  I also go for the salty stuff, especially if it's nearing TTOM.  My weakness is also stuff like cream cheese (I used to put LOTS on a bagel - I have seriously cut down and use low fat cream cheese instead of the full-fatted version).  I would sit and go through a whole bag of potato chips (especially the cheddar and sour cream) or chips and dip, with a 2 liter of Pepsi to wash it all down.  I used to make a cream cheese & shrimp cocktail dip for my chips too - YUM!!!  Love it!!  I also would do the typical junk food stuff - cheese curls, fritos, doritos, etc.  Another binge food is ice cream, so I stopped buying it and got fat free sherbet instead.  I figured I might not be able to control the binges all the time, but I can at least do some damage control by modifying the stuff I choose to binge on.  Does that make sense?
IX those Scotch mallows look divine, mmmm . . . I want one right now. I love Victoria Creams too and, oh! Empress Squares! If you want to see my 'binge' list look at my Dec. 16th entry haha!

Canadian chick I'm going to have my shortbread this Xmas regardless, lol! I never eat it at any other time of the year.

Going to cut back on the fruitcake this year (and, yes, I know it's weird, but I love it)

Anything sweet. Pastries. Carbs. Fatty foods. yumm...
Peanut butter and bread - lots of it, lots and lots. Then I purged. It is horrible and I am feeling sorry for myself.

I am a fool.
*hugs Jemmy* You're not a fool. You're a smart gal for recognizing a problem that you are dealing with. Please don't beat yourself up. You are strong. You will overcome.
Thank you so much IX. I appreciate that more than I can say. Truly I do. Each day is a new one and NO MORE PURGING PEANUT BUTTER FOR ME.

the only food that i could eat like i have a bottomless pit would be peanut butter. Unfortunately. haha, why can't we all like to binge on vegetables?
I have had to throw out "IM Healthy Honey Flavored Soynut Butter" because I couldn't stop eating it.

Oh and I've binged on vegetables... try baked butternut squash french fries with chili and cheese ...
