i am basically havin my 2nd period this month right now.

i have a copper iud [no hormones] that ive had over 6 months, and i know spotting/break through bleeding can be common.  however, it hasn't been common for me.

ive had 3 days so far of bleeding, started on the 20th...

my 'regular' period started the 10th and ran its course, ok over & done with, good to go.

then i'd say around the 16th or 17th i was feelin weird, like sort of itchy, and sex was uncomfortable.  then the 20th i notice spottin and got crampy.  from there it was like full blown period.  i'm even moody & stuff just like it was my normal cycle. sex is still feelin weird.  not like how it does on my period, different.  i've taken 3 pregnancy tests, all negative.  i dont know whats goin on or why and im pretty freaked out.  scared.

my mom has been havin some issues the past few years w her pre menopause and has had cysts before, etc.. idk if this could be related or what.

i think im gna make an appointment in the mornin.

what do you think it could be?  am i gna be ok?

I think you are probably fine but  you may have an infection (bacterial vaginosis comes to mind, no it is not an "std' but it can be transmitted sexually, its just a like a yeast infection only with bacteria instead of yeast.)  Are you noticing any odor?

I would go to the gyne-- what you are experiencing could just be a resetting cycle for your body, it could be that you have an infection from the iud or from another source, it could be that.... any number of things.  One thing you can take off your list is pregnancy.

So go to the dr, make sure you tell her everything (new partners, odor, gray or brown discharge, etc), and have them do a thorough check up.  Like I said, the likelihood is that its nothing but ... from you description and with the IUD, better safe than sorry.

Good luck!

a friend of mine said could be some kind of infection too.  no discharge, odor or anything, just bleedin.

had the same partner for almost a year now, monogamous.....

thank you for your suggestions

I also have the copper IUD, and have had it for 11 months. About 3 month ago i had a very heavy/painful period, after many months of normal ones, and have had 2 periods a month before with it.

I don't think its unusual to have strange things going on every now and again, no matter how long you've had your IUD. If you are worried about it, you should at least call your gyn doctor, especially if you have a family history of ovarian cysts. I don't think it sounds like a vaginal infection, but I'm not a doctor, so don't take my word for it.

I had an IUD put in about 18 months ago (well more like 6 weeks after I had my son).  For nearly 5-6 months my periods were very irregular (and I was ALWAYS very regular prior to this).  I was having a period pretty much every two weeks and some of them would last for about 10 days (and were incredibly heavy).  I went to my doctor to find out and he said that it was mainly my body adjusting to the IUD, and the other part was simply my hormones trying to get back in order from the pregnancy. Well to be honest, I had Post Partum Depression and it was throwing a whole lot of everything off lol.  I ended up taking anti-depressants for 3 months and since then have not had a single issue.  Not sure if this helps you or not, just thought I would share my experience and allow you to take what you can from it  Wink

Could be any number of things, none of which are particularly scary.  I used to have two periods all the time until I started the pill (from the time I first started getting them until I was around 17, so about 7 years I had two periods, most of the time, each of which lasted 8-10 days and were very heavy).  Now, I get one that's 3-7 days in duration, with fewer crippling symptoms or at least less severe ones.  Anyway, the point is the girl-parts doctor should know what to do for you--certainly did for me, anyway.  I wouldn't stress over it.

thank you all for sharin, i made an appointment and actually got in this mornin when i got off wk.  doctor says it's stress.  some women's body's react to stress by not havin a period, well the opposite can also happen.

which is funny... i am stressed out and it made me have a 2nd period, which stressed me out.

haha

i am relieved, though.

extremely.

thanks again!

Hey there... Not trying to freak you out at all, but better safe than sorry!

It sounds to me like it can either be HPV or a yeast infection.. You may want to go to your OBGYN and rule out HPV if you can..

i researched all the possiblities [sooooo many, and lots of scary ones]

but like i said i saw the doctor already yesterday and all's well.

thanks tho!
