Hey, college freshman still dealing with this..
Hi, Jaclyn.
I don't have anorexia, but I used to deal with bulimia. I came back to check posts because I felt bad about eating, and I came across your post and saw that no one has responded to you. I was wondering how you have been doing since you posted this. Have you had another period yet? I know we don't know each other and that this is such a huge mental deal... but I want you to know that I am always available if you ever need someone to talk to about anything. I know it's weird talking to a stranger about personal issues, but that's why we're in this group, right? For support.
What college are you going to and what are you studying? I'm a nursing student at Ferris State in Michigan... I guess since I've learned more and more about what can happen to my body from this disease is what made me want to stop. That and the support of friends and family. I have to say tho that my support has helped me beat this much much more than any information I receive. It seems like in information doesn't apply to me somehow... do you feel that way, too? But having friends and family care makes me want to do it for them as well as for me.
I'm always here to talk, and am more than happy to help support.
When I started college, my freshman year- semester 2- I was in a huge bought of anorexia. I lost about 30lbs and was dangerously low (5'8 and 95lbs) before I started recovery by going home. I know how you feel. College was super hard- especially when deaing with an eating disorder. While I was up at school I started seeing a therapist because it was part of my recovery program. It would be wise of you to do that as well. Also, if you have a wellness center or something at your school, I would let them know about your situation and they will be extremely helpful. You could set up a weekly checkup where they're check your vitals and weigh you to make sure you aren't "getting in to deep". They will let you know if you need to see a professional this or that- and send you in the right direction. They did this with me- and I'm completely thankful.
There are resources out there for you :-)
good luck hun!
