Knock-knock...anybody there...?
Ok, I'll start. I'm 54 years old and have been battling anorexia for about 30 years. People laugh at me when they hear I'm anorexic because I'm overweight. In fact I had ONE doctor tell me "You don't LOOK anorexic". I didn't go to him any more..but that little comment DID throw me back into an episode for about 6 months when I ate 1 whole wheat and honey pretzel and about 10 diet cokes a day.
I know...I know.."yikes"
It's pretty embarrassing, especially since my whole family thought it was pretty ridiculous.
Anyway I've been in recovery for about 11 years but I slip back once in a while and hopefully I've got it under control and when I DON'T eat much (my metabolism SUCKS now due to my yo-yo'ing. I don't think my body trusts me) at least what I DO eat is high in nutrition.
So has anyone else got any war stories?
Bright Blessings,

11 years recovery! Wow, well done.
You remind me of my mother, she's 50 and has been bulimic/anorexic since she was a teenager. She's currently having a period of water fasting and it's causing me to relapse after being in recovery all year.
Do you have any children? Has your eating disorder affected them in the same way?
Good luck! I'm new here too!
