I'm not really new here. But I haven't really posted in the forums.
I've been overweight my whole life. And was typically okay with it until just recently, when medication has packed on a good 50 pounds on me. You know it's bad when you gain ewight during rugby season
I started CCing, and exercicing.. once i hit 246
This morning, I weighed in at 235.2.
I'm hoping to loose at least 100, my ideal goal would be 120.
I'm 18, and going to university in two weeks. Although I'll have access to a gym.. cafeteria food, scares me..
I'm kinda looking for a buddy to help along the process, for moral support, and just someone to talk to!
Hey, Katie! I'd love to be/have an accountability buddy - it's easy to stray, but when we can all help each other, the journey is easier and more enjoyable. I started my journey to better health after living in denial and yo-yoing with diets since I was six years old - my parents took me to Weight Watchers in fifth grade, etc. - I had dieting horrors on a regular basis. About a year ago, I stepped on the scale, saw 305, and about had a heart attack. I had just turned 35 in June and knew it would never get easier to achieve health as I got older - just harder and why wait 'til heart trouble or diabetes set in to start changing? I have lost 80 lbs and feel great - except that lately I have gotten really relaxed about what I eat and have gotten really lazy about regular exercise, too. I'd love to buddy-up and share accountability on a regular basis and success/struggles along the way! Count me in! (PS - My goal is to lose 120 lbs and then re-assess my health goals...)
Although i'm only 18, appartentnly it doesn't get any easier, I just feel really gross about myself, and this weight, it's just. gross, no other words to describe it.
80 pounds is amazing, like .. serouisly, pick up at 7 year old, thats how much you lost.. that's insane, congrats!!
It's hard, like once you lose weight, and i know this has happened to me, i personally know i get cocky, and then end up letting myself slip. it's not good at alll.
how long do you plan to.. like, do it over?
Hey Katie, that's a great question - I would like to be at 185 by June 2009. I'm at 221-225 right now due to exactly what you said: I start getting confident, then cocky, then downright lazy about following through on a healthy LIFE, not a temporary diet to reach a short-term goal! I think my goal is totally attainable if I stick to counting calories for a 500/day deficit and eating whole, nutritious foods. I'd love to check in and just say: this is the good thing I did for my health today and this is the exercise I did today. I jokingly say that life gets in the way of my health, but it's really about the moment-to-moment and day-to-day choices that all add up to the quality of life we have. Don't you think?
My mom's motto "you should eat to live, not live to eat",, and it's true. it's just easier said than done.
I find when i'm eating junk, i just feel crappy and sluggish. There's nothing that tastes as good as thin/healthy feels :)
I'm considering dropping mine to 1200 but i'm not sure,
I appartently require a lot more than that.
but i dont think, see, I have a lot of weight in a certain area, the rest of me isn't that big overall, like my jeans are a 34... like I dont think I'm really that heavy, its just i have a lotta weight in acertain area, so I think it would be safe to drop the calories, what do you think?
i totally binged yesterday, i didnt gain any or lose any when I weighed myself this morning, so that's good. but I feel gross
You can wear that dress - I just know it! Yes, I also feel crappy when I eat poorly. I have been eating LOTS lately - 2200-2900/day and not feeling well, but I'm back on the wagon, sister! Yesterday I did okay but today was great - less than 1600 cals eaten and more than 2600 burned!!! I walked this morning and then cleaned our new house (I was off work today) so I am soooo very proud of myself! After eating good foods, it makes me feel sick to eat "bad foods" and I think many folks will agree. When I started I played with the calculators and figured out that 1750 was my ideal calorie goal - but that was quite a few lbs ago... I had the fastest, best success in the periods when I was eating 1550-1650 a day including LOTS of veggies, some fruits, eggs & egg whites, edamame/legumes, salads with the dressing on the side and very limited refined starches. I felt soooo good and am ready to jump back in. I highly recommend the calculators - they work! How tall are you? It sounds like you're active, so I wouldn't recommend dropping that low - you can try it, but you might go into a kind of "starvation" mode and then your body will conserve what it has - NOOOOOO THANKS! (LOL) I calculated what I (statistically) burn in a day and how many cals I need to get to my goals. I had been maintaining since mid-June, but now I'm seeing the scale go up a little and I'm ready for my next move DOWN the scale. Totally binged, huh? Well, tomorrow can be a makeup day if you're up for it - I too will be making up for eating everything I see for the past few weeks. I will report in tomorrow! Ciao!
but see its werid, I carry my weight reallly .. awkwardly.
i have a really big chest..
and i mean my stomachs not tiny, but its not nearly big as what my weight should reflect. i dunno.
Im down a total of 13 pounds now. cant wait for that scale to go downnnn
Hey, Katie! I got caught up in some house trouble drama and went crazy with the eating at dinner. I ate around 3100 cals and am not wanting to live in DENIAL just because my man and I are all stressed out. Down 13 lbs? Excellent!!!! Only 5'7"? Hehe - I am 5'4" - petite clothes are too short and regularlengths are too long - we're all "awkward" when it comes to clothes. If you are talking about dropping cals due to having a waist that goes with a smaller-sized person, again, I'd urge following the calorie target calculator - dropping too low CAN work against you - check out forum posts about this - you'll hear the same things from all sorts of different people. It can mess up your calorie burn factor - but I'm no doctor or health professional! Just a CC buddy who cares. And hey, some women get mad b/c they lose in the chest area first!!!! Luck is relative, huh??????? Hey, well have a great Friday!
