Hey, New in the fitness department. Curious questions.
Hello all, I was wondering. I'm "dieting" sure but I need to exercise. Now, I'm a college student in NYC. My school doesn't have a gym and I already have a gym membership that I can only use when I come home on weekends. So, I was wondering if anyone would have any good excersise plans I could use while in school. Right now, I'm doing crunches, push ups, walking around the city in general to my classes and I walk up and down the stairs to the 8th floor in my dorm building instead on using the elevator.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks.

I'll be moving up to NYC for college soon. Do you like to play any sports? I am going to join an ice hockey league and a roller hockey league when I move up there. There's only one year round rink, though.
Do you have a bicycle? How about dumbbells/free weights?
No, I don't have any extra money to join because i'm paying for my other gym, and I don't have any free weights.

Dumbbells are pretty cheap and you can get used ones from a Play It Again Sports store for even cheaper. They're worth it. Also, pickup hockey/pickup sports can be cheap if you keep it weekly but in NYC I think the cost of open hockey is 31 frigging dollars.
What about exercise that doesn't involve weights?
try women's health magazine website. u can download workouts without weights
This bodyweight home workout can get you started if you don't find something to your liking from Paige; either one will do for a starter workout.
I would suggest investing in an exercise ball. You can buy one for $10-$15 and you can use it to supplement exercises you already do or try all kinds of new exercises. It is particularly helpful for core strengthening. Not to mention it's small enough to keep in a dorm room and you can deflate it for storage.
You can also use the ball as a chair for when you're studying. It's a good way to work on balance and strengthening your core muscles as well.
Gotta get that heart rate up. There a park nearby where you cuold jog?

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
