Hey people: Halloween, thanksgiving and christmas are a threat for us !!
Hello all: get ready for the holidays of halloween, thanksgiving and christmas. This is the hardest season to lose weight for us, because there are more social gatherings with lots of tempting foods around this time of the year. So be strong and resit and fight the temptations of the goodies of this time of the year !!!!!!!!
I suggest that one of the mods should deal with that binge eater:))
Binge eater: you have posted about the same topic in the lounge before.
im going to indulge small portions thanks. i only live once.. and ill hit the gym as well extra.
Don't feed the troll XD
I will not be 'resisting' or 'fighting' in the slightest.
I plan to enjoy any and all holiday fare in moderate amounts and in the spirit it is intended.
Suggesting that seasonal celebrations are a 'threat' is a very jaundiced & narrow view of life. I suggest to the OP that they read an excellent little book by a certain Charles Dickens... 'A Christmas Carol'. It has a lot to say on the perils of being an antisocial old misery-guts.
You sit at home alone, counting your carbs, gazing in the mirror and thinking you look 'better than ever'.... the rest of us will enjoy a quiet mince-pie and raise a glass to Ebeneezer Binge_Eater
Well, we don't have thanksgiving over here and I'm indifferent to Halloween food cause it's just sweets, but yesterday I made my first ever christmas cake! I'm spending christmas with my boyfriend and brother and his wife and I'm sure they will love it. I bought all the ingredients from the market. I never realised how much fruit went in! Now it has to mature for 2 months and I have to "feed" it brandy every 2 weeks ![]()
What was the point of this post... oh yeah, fighting christmas... no, none of that round here...
Halloween won't be a threat to me, we always have a tupperware thing full of candy from the kiddies that I have no problem resisting. My weakness is gourmet chocolate. Nor will Thanksgiving or Xmas be a big deal I think since I have to deal with similar temptations regularly anyway (fiancee cooking or bringing home junk since he's not on a diet plan like me) and am kind of used to handling it. If I have something "non-ideal" it's usually in moderation like other ppl have mentioned.
My plan for the holiday season is to maintain during the last week of the year (xmas and new years), but not count calories on xmas day
Other than that, I will be choosing less meat and more salads and barbequed veges like sweetcorn and other filling food, as its summer where i live and barbeques are a holiday tradition. Mmmmmm grilled sweetcorn... But sadly less soup coz it'll be so hot here!
Everything in moderation--that includes getting some of my favorite holiday sweets. The only thing I'm hoping to cut out of my holiday entirely is dealing with my super rude brother-in-law who always asks me when I'm going to get pregnant again at the dinner table. And actually, giving him a swift kick in the behind would burn a few calories right? Hmmm....tempting...
Actually I'm in Maintenance mode for the holidays. That means, I can indulge a little more than usual. For me, it is too much to worry about losing weight while eating at other's homes for the holidays. Instead, I take it easy with calorie counting, but still focus on eating healthier than in tha past. Upping my workouts during this time will help me maintain also. Enjoy yourself. Life isn't about being fat or skinny.

Hello, well, any big binge of around 3000 to 10,000 calories extras in a night of crazy eating like an all you can buffet, or the christmas holiday dinner with our families can have a total of between 3000 to 10,000 extra calories, and that's why i warn people to be strong, and resist the temptations to over-eat and forget about their weight loss program.
I'm not telling people to stay away from celebrations, what i am saying is that we should control the amount of food we put on our plates in the holidays coming up. I mean we could still eat some cheesecake and pecanpies but a short piece.
So the real problem is not the kind of food we eat, but the amount of it. So we should still control food portions even if we are in a party or cheating.

haha, i was only joking, but last christmas i ate a whole tres leches cake, damn it was so good, haha.
Well, i think that we can when the thanksgiving and christmas holiday dinners arrive, i think that we can still have some of the same food that other people will be eating like potatoe salad, ham, stuffed-turkey, bread, and pie, in small or moderate amount, without stuffing ourselves.
Take care

That's probably a good idea. Some people found it offensive (including myself). Thank you for respecting our wishes.

So you no longer believe that the only solution is to eat 1000 cal of turkey and 200 cal of vegetables for your thanksgiving dinner?
Are you learning, or just trying to fly under the mod radar?

Precisely. So what's all this rubbish you keep spouting about never eating carbohydrates then?.... You know most things make a beeping noise and flash warning lights when they back up like that.... Beep.. Beep... Beep...
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
