I'm officially dropping out of this club at 174 -- just found out I'm pregnant! Hopefully I'll be back here this time next year or sooner.
I'd like to join you guys. I'm at 178.2... down from 180.5 last week. I just started a "weight loss challenge" with some friends at work. We're weighing in together once a week, sharing our daily calorie intake with each other, and working out together when we can. It's been much easier to stay motivated with support. Nights are tough, though, so I'd love to be able to post to the group in the evenings!
JCR, I'm waiting for you in the 160s. Don't think you have to rush, I'm not goin anywhere. But the gym IS helping the ole bod. Plus I ordered a heavier hula hoop. Can't wait to getr it. Take care all!
Hi Everyone!
My name is Shannon and I just started my life style change last week.
Here's a little bit about me... I am 27 years old and currently weigh 176. This is THE most I have ever weighed in my life. Through high school and in to my early 20's I weighed between 140-145 give or take a few pounds here and there, it always fluctuated.
I weighed 150 in 2002 at age 22 when I got pregnant with my son. I only gained 22 pounds while pregnant, and obviously, that means I weighed 172 the day I gave birth. After having him, I dropped down to 145. I have always been able to eat what I want when I want, and maintain my weight. This past spring I started to pack it on, and finally realized about a month ago, it wasn't coming off by itself. I finally was getting O.L.D.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Last Friday I had a vacation day from work. I dropped my son off at preschool and FINALLY returned to the gym. For the past week, my eating habits and the foods I eat have drastically changed, and in just one week, my workouts have increased.
Although I have not yet lost any weight, I feel FANTASTIC. What have I been waiting for????
My problem??? I have NOONE in my life who is going through this with me. Sooooo.... I am hoping some folks here can lend an ear to vent to and maybe I can do the same.
Look forawrd to talking with you all!
~Shannon
Funny you should say this b/c my focus this week is water also! I weighed in today for the first time in 2 weeks (well 2 weeks tomorrow I started working out - eating completely different), I lost 3 pound already! I think cutting soda out of my diet has completely been responsible for most of it. I am hitting the gym 4 times per week. I am keeping at it!
Good luck megarrah! We weigh just about the same! Maybe we'll reach that plateau together???

I want to be 145, which is just right for my height (5'8") and build.
At my healthiest - working out, eating right - I was 150 - summer 2005. I stayed in the 150-155 range until January 2006, when I first hurt my back and couldn't exercise. It took months of pain, etc. before an MRI showed that a massive disc had ruptured and then broke off (into 2 pieces!) into my spinal column. I had back surgery in July 2006, then a bout with pre-cervical cancer. Plus months of recovery - my left leg is still partly numb. All that meant lots of painkillers, ice cream and inactivity. I got up to 185 pounds.
I'm finally back to eating right (no more tubs of ice cream at my house!) and light exercise - walking mostly - and I've lost a few pounds. My goal now is to stick to about 1600 cals, with REGULAR excercise of the moderate variety - elliptical trainer, swimming, and arm weights.
I'm looking to expand my family, and it's important to me that I don't start things this heavy - I've never been over 200, and a pregnancy now would prob. put me there!
I'm looking forward to heading to the "160's club" pretty soon :)
Can I join in? Finally got below 180. And, it's not a fluke this time. LOL! 176.2 right now. I hope to be in the 160's by the end of October. Overall goal is somewhere around 150.
