Hey Weight Gainers! Whats do you buy at the store?
Hey girls! I was just having a hard time for good snacks or things to buy in the store! I am a very healthy eater and I love trying new foods! Any good snacks, meals or things I could buy at the store? What do you girls buy? Its also hard because all things high in fat like nuts and such are very expensive! Any help?
GRANOLA
Contains nuts and seeds and dried fruit, it's high cal, and tasty :) Plus you can buy the supermarket's own brand which is cheaper.
~ Greek yogurt, and whole-milk regular yogurts
~Nutella (the wholesale store sells a jar the size of my head! no lie!), assorted PB's (target has store-brand flavored ones for cheaps!) and jams/preserves
~Cottage cheese/ricotta/swiss (full fat)
~Bulk-sized containers of nuts, trail mixes, granolas, and dried fruit. big bags of flaked coconut, chocolate chips
~ Oats/oat bran
~Shredded wheat biscuits, occasionally Kashi cereals if its on sale
~ bananas, avocadoes, corn, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes
~pasta, brown rice, bulgur wheat
~party-sized containers of hummus
~salad dressings, olive oil
~soy milk, flavored coffee creamer, coconut milk
Tips and things I discovered: add coffee creamer to your hot cereals - super tasty AND more calories than milk. Mix 2TBS hummus with 1tsp olive oil or 1TBS ground seeds - get more calories per serving. Make it into a dressing by adding an extra tsp oil. Also, try cooking rice in milk or coconut milk, or stirring it up with some hummus. Getting nuts in packages from the "baking needs" section is often cheaper than buying the package you find in the snack foods or produce aisles. Also, bigger packages = most efficient when you know its something you'll finish off before it expires. The cost looks like more, but ounce per ounce the bigger container is ALWAYS cheaper than its smaller counter part.
