I have been using CC since the 13 of Oct 2009 and I find it to be a pretty cool tool to help gauge those calories I have been eating. I am 43 years old and have about 40 lbs to lose.
Dieting is a chore to me, since I have thyroid disease and don't even have to eat the food in order to gain weight. Plus, using any kind of weight loss drug can effect my heart. It really sucks. A couple of years ago I went from being a comfortable 140 lbs then ballooned up to 198 lbs. Of course the weight did not happen over night, and only some of it is my fault. But when you are an emotional eater and have alway prided yourself on your svelt figure, then seeing your weight go up consistently only serves to reek emotional chaos. I eat.
Hormones also play a nasty game with my weight, and I found out that the Merena birth control implant made me gain weight as well. The moment that was removed, I had dropped 6 pounds almost immediately. So I thought I would ride that wave of weight loss. I decided to try the HCG diet. It is an injectable drug that you get from your doctor and it actually burns the excess fat that is storing in the unwanted places first. When done correctly, it is supposed to burn a minimum of one pound per day. The diet is really, really, really restricted but for me it seems to be working. I started at 191 lbs on the 10th of October 2009, and am now at 183 lbs on the 18th of October 2009. So the total weight I have lost since starting this diet and having the Merena removed is 15 lbs.
So far this has been a God send for me. I am learning to cook for myself, low calorie, low fat, healthy alternatives for things I love. There are days when I wake up in the morning and think, okay, this is the day where all of the weight will come back and kick me on the butt! But almost every morning I wake up and find another pound gone! Wish me luck!
