Hi All - I'm new to the group :) looking for good info and weight gain tips:
I'm about 160 pounds but really want to get to about 170-175.
I have learned something today here and am curious about some other questions.
1) so I read that typically you can only handle about 600-700 calories at a meal. this is great info. So now that I learned anything over that turns to fat, it helps. I have been trying to do like a thousand plus calories at lunch and dinner and a weight gain drink-Quickmass during the day sometime or after a work out.
**question 1- If I eat 1,000 calorie meals 3 times a day with a snack and it all equals 3500 calories, and the 300 calories each meal extra supposedly turn to fat, that is 1400 calories going to fat each day which they say about 3000 cals extra equal a pound of weight- (assuming it's consistent) . what is the difference if I eat 6 meals a day at say 600 calories each for 3600 calories total. Won't the extra still turn to fat? Why is there a requirement to eat it over 6 meals vs 3? either way I need the extra calories to add weight.
I am guessing perhaps that one way all the fat is just stored in the belly, but the other way the fats get deposited all over the body??
**If i am working out 3 times a week, just basics and doing Judo 3 times a week-which is MAJOR cardio in my class, can i really gain weight?
**It it true that all i really need to do to bulk up all over is do Push-ups, pull-ups and squats 3 times a week consistently?
Concern: whenever I have tried to bulk up by eating more and taking the shakes I always seem to feel the big gut when i sit down and grab my belly, i HATE that. Why wont my arms or neck get bigger???Is it because I am not spreading the meals out across the day?
Okay, let's see where this leads, thanks everone!
Hi. I think the 6 meals vs 3 is ones choice and what helps them to get their needs in. When one is on a higher calorie diet it helps with digestion and I think overall metabolism to have more meals. I think both are going to equal the same weight gain is the same calories. For many when they gain weight it is first in the stomach because the body has things to protect there but with time it will even out through ones body. On a side note though people carry weight in different places and have different shapes. I am not familiar with bulking up eating so I can't help you there
