Hi, anyone else with Hypothryoid symptoms but be able to be diagnosed?
I figured this would be great place for me to start. I'm 30 and have been in battle with most hypothyroidism symptoms from the depression, weight gain, loss of hair, skin problems and so on for the last 20 years. Every time I see a new doctor or talk to someone about my symptoms, there first reaction is to ask if my thyroid has been tested. The answer being yes, several times, however my tests always come back within normal range. This is nothing new to me as it seems like my body covers itself. The testing just recently happened with my gallbladder back in Novermber too. Gallbladder was removed the friday before Thanksgiving and there wasn't much left to it when the dr took it out.
I am looking to see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing and to see what they have done about it or if there are any other types of tests that they have done that most doctors do not suggest. I did have one mention that T3 and T4 may not be working correctly together, however there is no test yet to prove that. Help?!
What is your TsH level at? Some doctors are still on the old notion that anything under a 5 is good which isn't necessarily true. I start having nasty symptoms if mine goes above a 3. You might be like me and work better on a lower number.
Thanks for the thought. I will have to check in on that. I've been tested so many times i'm not sure where I'm at anymore. I keep hearing the same thing which is usually I'm in normal limits and nothing is wrong with me type of thing. It makes you look like it's all in your head.
I haven't been suffering as long as you have, but I do know what you mean. You mention some new symptom and they look at you like you're being hysterical. I've been thinking about seeing another doctor to find out if there is more that can be done. Right now the problem is muscle and joint pain and weakness and today is a really bad day.
I'm going to ask about that TsH level at my next visit too.
I don't blame you one bit. Right now I'm debating on heading to a different doctor. The problem however comes between my job and the area that I live in. I'm about 45 min from Syracuse and I have exhausted the few doctors we have here. I really need to head to Syracuse and my job and time off hours are terrible for it. Don't know how many times I will have to travel back and forth. Could go to Albany but same circumstance. It seems like I have to find a way to find a dr that will actually listen and do something too!
i have had hypothyroid since 1970 i am 66 now and fatigue just gets worse the Dr. raises my medication nothing happens I have been a nurse for 20 yr and I never met a patient that said their fatigue has improved. frankley I don't think they know lots of thing.
