I have been smoking since the age of 12 (now 31). I smoke close to two packs per  day. I have ordered the patches and they will be here next week. I am nervous and very anxious, but also looking forward to not smoking anymore. My hubby chews snuff, and he is also quitting with me. Has anyone used the Nicoderm patches? Did they work well for you?

Hi Jenn!

I am also a new member. I quit smoking the 23rd, so this is day 4 for me. In the past I have tried the patches. Honestly, nicotine replacement in any form (inhalers, gum, patches) has never worked well for me. I've tried all three of these methods with not much luck. I quit last winter for 3-4 months with Chantix, so that is what I'm using this time. But each individual is different, and different methods work for different people. I have heard of people who have quit with patches. Last winter I was well over the withdrawals, but I gained so  much weight I actually talked myself into starting smoking again.  I really wish I hadn't. This time I'm approaching it very differently. I'm taking two 1/2 hour walks a day, and I have cut sugar completely out of my life.. I have lost 1-2 lbs this week!!!I feel very positive that I can actually LOSE weight while I quit smoking this time, with exercise and an eating lifetstyle change (I don't like the word diet!). I also smoked 1 and 1/2 to two packs a day and was sooo nervous to quit. But really, I haven't had that bad of withdrawals this time. After I got through the first day, that kind of proved to myself that I could do it, and it wasnt such a scary prospect anymore!!!Anyway,  I wish you luck with your quit!!!

Take care!!!
LISA
