Hi Everyone--From your Union City neighbor
Hi Everyone!
I've honestly always wanted to be more physically fit, but up until I turned 24 I was happy with the way I looked because while certain areas were more plump than others, my body balanced out was aesthetically pleasing to me. BUT (the word that changes everything), the pounds have started coming on and they are attacking me in the worst areas. So, now at 28 I'm ready to make a real difference and drop these pounds...54lbs to be exact.
I've tried the weightloss attempts in the past, but I'm ready to
get serious. I really don't want to go into my thirties with these
same issues. This is my first time joining calorie count and I'm
already addicted. Throughout grade school, college, and grad school I
was obessed with making the grades, so to see my food with a grade
gives me extreme motivation to make all "A's".
I wanted to join this group because I have so much weight to lose that I know I'm going to need to help from others who know exactly how hard this journey can get.
Some interesting details about me: I'm a single mom who just moved across the country for a new job in local government. I don't know many people, which is a bummer because I really need a workout buddy. I enjoy hiking, biking, and walk/running. Six weeks ago I set a goal to run a Half Marathon in Feb 2009. Since that time, I've reconsidered the half and I'm thinking I should start with a 12k. Oh yeah, I love to shop, shop, shop, and volunteer, and then shop some more.
I guess I should share that my current weight is 209 (I don't know what happened, I was just at 199 3 months ago). I am a tall 5'7". Although my ultimate goal is 155, my first step goal is 195 or a 14lb loss. I'm hoping to reach this first step goal by December 16th, which would require a 1.75lb loss per week. I'm just going to keep telling myself that I can do this..sigh.
I'm nervous, but I'm committed this time!
Hey lbsbgone,
I turned 46 this year. I am 5'7" and need to loose about 20lbs. I joined this group sometime back, but was not getting the motivation that I needed.
I often look for someone to just give me that boost to get out there to walk. If you are up for a daily e-mail to see how things are going..I would love to keep up with the calorie counting. It worked for me in the past.
I live in Marin county..
Good luck to you..and I'm updating my calories now for the day! Thanks for the introduction..just that, got me moving again.
Krikkit
Hi lbsbgone,
I live in Hayward, yes, your neighboring city and I love to run...I run at least 3 times a week, 2-3 times on weekdays and every Saturday mornings at the Alameda Creek Trail or the Coyote Hills Park. Have you been there yet?
I am planning to run a half-marathon by summer but my training won't start until Feb 09 because that's the time I'm done in school (yes, I'm back in school). I could start the training now and do a half-marathon sooner but I want to be able to focus on it 100%, especially I have a full time job as well and family to take care of in addition to my studies.
We are running a 5K turkey trot this thanksgiving day in San Jose - maybe you can start there :)
Let's get each other motivated to keep going...or keep running ![]()
Your neighbor,
Dorothy
dot,
I haven't been to Alameda Creek or Coyote Hills Park, but I'm certainly interested in some new trails. What time do you run on Saturdays, maybe we can meet up there. I really need some motivation right now!

Dorothy,
I just did a 5k for breast cancer on the 25th in San Jose :). I'd love to do this 5k on Thanksgiving... do you have any details?
Here is the link to the SJ Turkey Trot http://svturkeytrot.com/
I have a whole bunch of friends, family, and co-workers joining me on this day, let me know once you're registered, maybe we can arrange to meet there and root for each other :)
Happy running!
Dorothy
