Hi!!! A few questions from a new member
First of all id like to introduce myself im Olala a new member to CC and im just starting to recover from a ED, i know there are many other on this forum who are also and id just like to wish all of you luck and i know we can all get through this and have happy lives again:) i really would appreciate it if someone could help me out with a few confusions i have to the whole weight gaining process. thankyou.
ok SO lets say that IN A WEIGHT GAIN DIET THERE ARE NO FOODS THAT ARE LIMITED BUT OBVIOUSLY HEALTHIER IS BETTER CHOICE COS ONCE YOU REACH THE GOAL U DONT WANNA UR BODY TO CRAVE AND JUST BE ADDICTED TO JUNK FOOD RIGHT? OK WELL THEN I HAVE 1 QUESTION THE FOODS THAT IM EAting right now are basically healthy fresh and unprocessed and i know this can lead to weight loss but i make sure i get just enough calories in to gain weight so its alright and i even indulge in a cinnamon bun, chocolate bar, starbucks, slice of cheesey lasagna, etc. every now and then but i want my habits to stay good once i start to maintain so i dont go back to the old habits..so my question was if i ate something with heaps of fat in it like say lasagna or something with heaps of sugar cinnamon bun(whatever time day or night) would this like make my tummy fat and bring my tummy flab back which is what made me diet and become sick in the first place?? and also i dont eat these foods every day just ocassionally whenever mom makes it really.. so im really scared that im just gonna get back to where i started you know...im eating healthy to gain dont get me wrong its not the ED thats making me feel guilty im just saying should i cut back on bad fats and bad foods and just eat healthy if i want to gain some weight and then ill try toning up afterwards btw i only need to gain 5 to 10 lbs... these are my details 18 yo F im deff sure im 5'7 almost 5'8ish so in between maybe 5'8 (sorry not exactly sure) and i weigh at about 110lbs (im gaining in order to up my BMI which is 16.9 and also get my period back and just be healthy again)..i was on a low cal diet that would vary between 900 to 1100/1200 for a while so i stuffed up my metabolism but im also worried that in order to maintain say my goal weight of 120lbs will i need to be on a diet of 1800 or something like that? cos i want to manage at about 2000 but how can i make sure that ill be able to maintain on 2000 (of course ill be doing exercise 3 to 4 times p/w) but just to make sure how do i boost my metabolism so it can adjust to 2000 to maintain?
sooo sorry for this long question but im just really lost and everyone here seem so nice and educated about this stuff so id be greatful if someone were to help me understand better.
(sorry for the typing in caps keyboards messed up lol)
Calories in and calories out affect weight gain and loss, not the foods. The importance of quality of food is in nourishing your body with vitamins and minerals rather than affects on weight gain and loss. To gain and desire to maintain at 2000 you need to be at a minimum of 2500 SEDENTARY. As for weight, no, you have more to gain than 5 to 10lbs. A girl of 5'8 should weigh about 135lbs, not 120, if you want to really get fit and have greater chance of regaining your period.
Whilst you increase do not weigh in as you may see initial water fluctuation not true to gain. You also need to speak with a doctor, ASAP, as you may have done yourself serious harm.
Fats are not bad. Fat does not make you fat. Fat is what absorbs vitamins A, E, D and K and helps keep you regular, helps manage strong skin and hair and teeth and guess what? Helps you get your period back. It should make up 30% of your overall cal intake.
Again, go to your doctor. A forum should not be your primary source of support.
