Hi! Why don't you make a profile about yourself??
hi, sarah, glad to hear from you. i know you will enjoy following your progress on this website, and you always have someone to talk to about the problems. you'll pick up a lot of good ideas, and have so much fun, it's unbelievable! yes, it's hard work, and it takes lots of patience, but it works! that's what really counts! looking forward to hearing more about you!
Thanks, sparkle and elin! I figured out how to make a (small) profile...yay!
I'm about to graduate college (in May), and in high school I was a very serious athlete. I've continued to think of myself as an athlete, without realizing that I'm not actually doing the working out part of the equation...so, while my weight has only gone up some (at Thanksgiving, I was about 145 on a 5'3, very small frame), my muscle mass has declined so much. Anyway, my goal weight is 117, which is 5 pounds heavier than I was at my fittest.
Oh yeah...my biggest weakness is chocolate :-P

I ate three chocolates this morning, following the six or so I ate last night after fighting with my boyfriend...I can't NOT keep chocolates around, or I literally feel crazy and awful about myself, but if I do keep ANY, I seem to gobble them up in a matter of hours. What to you guys do about these trigger foods? I thought just logging them would make me think more about it, but...
I feel awful :(

don't feel awful! start over today.. One night of badness is
better for you than if you let yourself start eating bad because of it
(does that make sense?) Log it (because who are you trying to
keep it from? you told us andyou can't lie to yourself) and move
on.. don't let it get you down. as for your boyfriend and you
fighting.. that happens.. i know my hubby and i fight once in a while..
i used to eat and eat and eat when it happens.. now we actually talk it
out because neither one of us is able to comfort ourselves with food
(he's doing the whole lmp thing too). If your boyfriend isn't
trying to lose weight, maybe you can write in a journal instead of
eating a box of chocolates.. :) just a thought. Also, i
don't think that in this case your chocolates were the trigger for you
eating them.. if you need to get some hershey's kisses and keep 1 or 2
around for emergencies and keep the others somewhere where you'd have
to work to get them. that way you get the chocolate fix without
the calories.

Thank you thank you thank you for the support! I just went grocery shopping and wandered up and down all the aisles oooh-ing over stuff I can't have, and I wound up with a protein bar instead and now I'm on the way to the gym (I hope)!
I guess the silver lining in my cloud is that I ate all the chocolate in my apt. last night or this morning...so now there's no more!

"Count it as a vegetable and move on!" :D Someone in
another community gave me this advice, i will post the link when I get
it. But seriously, just count your binge as a vegetable and start
the next day new! Don't be too hard on yourself! =)

Hi sarahkyle,
I know what you mean about not being able to NOT have chocolate in the house. Here's what I do, especially when it's the type of chocolate that is just oh so melt-in-the-mouth delectably lucious, like valentine chocolates: I hide them in a place that I don't go to very often, like the mending pile (lol) and then I allow myself just one heavenly chocolate on one night of the week, (Thursday is my night when my favorite show is on). That way, I look forward to Thursday and yet I don't overdo it. Good luck with whatever you find that works for you!

Hehe, cgoligowski...I'm trying to wean myself down to LOTS less at a time; I have no self-control!!
If anyone needs help with stress in life (I used to binge because of depression and stress and such) a great website that gives tips on how to deal with stress without leaning on food is www.coping.org

I'm new too! Just 2 days old. I really like this site as I just went to see a Nutritionist the day before I found this site. She is having me journal my food intake. This site is making it real easy. Good luck! Sounds like we are about the same frame with different goals...it will be fun to keep up with you. As far as the chocolate...I have a bit of the same weakness, the Nutritionist told me I could have (2) Dove Darks and consider it an ounce of protein...its good as far as anti-oxidents go if you consume EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE. Good luck!

Yay! Today is my 1 month anniversary on the site and I've lost 12 lbs so far.... I'm a believer! I hope everyone finds as much health, support, and ideas here as I have... I love it! Welcome aboard!
yo!
I eat 2 little Dove Chocolate promises everyday right before bed.(88 cals for the 2). I count it in for the day's calories. It keeps me from going crazy with chocolate or any other foods, because I know I can eat those 2 everyday.
