Hi guys, new to the forum! 123lbs currently, but goal of 150 by Sep. :)
So currently, I'm skinny as hell. I'm 5'11 at 123lbs, and I'm just sick of it. So about a month and a half ago, I decided to get a personal trainer to help me workout and what not... granted, I've gained about 4lbs or so, but it's not enough. I want to weigh at least 150, and fast.
Basically, I figured out that 75% of it is diet. Honestly, at the rate I'm going right now (what I'm eating), it could make for a good weight loss program. I usually eat just one (****) meal a day then snack the rest, and I put in my calorie counter and it said I need to be eating 2885 calories a day to reach my goal. Which is a lot... but I'm almost willing to do so.
Just wondering/hoping maybe you guys have any success stories about yourselves and how much/how quick you gained weight. I'm going to start trying to drink a lot of protein shakes, too. I really want to get this started.
Thanks a lot guys feel free with the comments!
As a tall guy you'll probably need closer to 3000 or more. CC isn't accurate for weight gainers, but 3000 is a good standard to go by. However, if you are working out I STRONGLY suggest that "more" part. Protein shakes are also unnecessary. I've gained 50lbs from my lowest through diet and food alone. I had to eat 4000 calories or more in the end.
I suggest you read the following:
The Aim is to Gain: Advice on Weight Gain, Whatever Your Reason
A SAMPLE MEAL PLAN OF 3000 CALORIES - with ideas to take it up to 3500!
They both have helpful advice and means of making 3000 calories+ without needing rubbish filled protein shakes.
Protein shakes can't hurt, though, can they? Cause honestly I have a personal reason I need to get to that weight by Sep., and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get there. I was thinking maybe one in the morning, or just during the day sometime... and one before bed? Was thinking about Creatine Mass 10,000. It's a protein/creatine shake all-in-one and has I think 908 calories in one serving.
First up, most of those formulas are full of additives and quite frankly, crap. You DO NOT NEED THEM. If you really want to drink them do so on top of a good FULL plan of food. Liquids with caloric content are fine but you should still be looking at a plan of 3000+ from food sources primarily. I had to eat about 4000+ to gain weight, in the end - and I am female, 6'1. When it got past 3500 I started drinking a larger part of my intake through soy milk, or 100% juice (lactose intolerant) but I could still do 3500 in food without much bulk.
But your issue is that you do not know how to eat properly. You posted in another thread that you only consumed 1100 ish calories the other day. That's a starvation diet, just so you know. One than can lead to muscle atrophy, loss of libido and proper erectile function and even heart attack. This tells me you really don't know much about a decent eating schedule or pattern. You have to eat to live, remember this. Skipping breakfast like you've mentioned is one big issue I see already, when ideally, this should be your largest meal.
Goals or no goals weight gain should not be a rushed process. You rush it and it's like crash dieting; most of what you'd gain through just cramming it in will be water weight that'll drop off you as soon as you stop trying to gain again.
This takes effort. Dedication. There is no quick fix.
