Hi, I'm Cheryl and I NEED to lose 60+ lbs. Help!

I'm going to be 53 in Nov., am 5'7" and my weight this AM was 209. I drive city bus for a living which certainly doesn't help with things - very erratic hours - hard to eat right.

Up until a few year ago I was in pretty good shape - as a matter of fact, I was a "fat bigot". I'd look at obese people, shake my head and wonder how anybody could let themselves go like that. Well, now I know. Four years ago my husband was diagnosed with cancer - three chemo treatments, then a bone marrow transplant that seemed to be working until he developed a massive infection which took his life almost a year ago in Oct. During all this I was a stress eater which really packed on the pounds to a high of 221.

With the help of this website and the Wii Fit I managed to get down to 200. (nothing like a computer voice telling you " thats obese!" to get you going...)

Anyway, fell off the wagon and I am SO SICK of feeling rotten that I joined a gym 2 weeks ago and hired a PT for 5 sessions to get me started right. It's just so much harder and takes longer to see results than just a few years ago whereas a pint of Ben & Jerrys is instant gratification... sigh

Well that's probably way more info then anybodys wants to know about me. Laughing but I hope by joining a group of people my age it will help keep me motivated

Hi Cwooden82 (Cheryl?),

I'm in the same boat as are many in this group.  I just started calorie counting and had no idea that I was consuming so many each day because my weight has been the same for years.  Yikes!

I was interested in hearing how well the Wii fit worked for you.  I was given a Wii Fit Plus recently. Once I got the board turned around correctly, it was a lot of fun and did get me going, but I haven't made any time for it.  Seem to gravitate to my treadmill instead of setting up the Wii.

What made you discontinue your Wii Fit program?  And how are you doing at the gym?
