Hi Deb,

I don't fit in the category of loosing 100 pounds, but I sure need to loose about 45 pounds.

I started on this journey in Feb. 2007, I've lost around 36 pounds, but since Christmas have fell back to some old eating habits and have gained 5 pounds.   I looked at myself and felt how my clothes (which I was down two sizes) was starting to fit a little snug so I put on the brakes and said whoa, it's time to get back on the wagon and make this journey part of my life.

I would tell you that the best thing I've come upon is a recumbent exercise bike.   This bike you can buy at Sears and it lets you ride with ease right in front of your TV.   I just select a program I like and after a 1/2 hour of riding, I've lost 400 calories, you can't loose this many by walking or running in a half hour.   I would suggest this as a very good source of exercising, it's easy you sit with your legs extended in front of you, easy on the joints.

I will add you to my friends list, lets keep in touch and help each other!

Carol

Hi Deb,

I started cc on January 12th.  I have lost 29 pounds and still need to lose another 97.  The support here is great and if you need to vent or anything just let me now.

I'm not in that range but hi anyway and best wishes
Hi Carol, thanks for the info on the bike will try to get one. thanks for offering your support, and to keep in touch to help each other will add you to my friendsSmile. this is going to be quit the journey!
Thanks imhoff, I'm glad I joined this site.

Thank you chairmanmeow.

Hi Deb...I also joined about the same time you did....for health reasons for me...I started at 266 by the MD office scale in November and was told to lose weight. I thought I was doing great on my own....so when I went...yeah 3 pounds lost in 3 months.....boy was I MAD.....especially since others noticed I was losing and my clothes were fitting different. (Throwing my jeans in the dryer on high so they wouldn't be baggy in 15 minutes riding in the car).

So...now I am here logging everything I am eating and seeing the truth...the first couple of days I was good....the past two (birhtday celebrations) were fair. I know there will be ups and downs.....there have been many and know my attitude will be the thing that makes me successful....and moving!!!!

My friend told me about workouts on cable and I have tried them...I seriously have no room for any equipment and am honestly too embarrassed to join a gym.....I do take yoga classes twice a week......It will be one day at a time but it is time consuming. hopefully I can change my eating habits enough that it will become second nature.

Good luck in your journey! I think this will be a great support!

Hi Deb,

I am new also, just started today. I need to lose 68#, but it sure feels like 168#!! I need to lose for health issues and my mental health. I tried starting my own support group with friends, but it fell flat. Most were not ready to commit, or had other needs that our little group could not address. So it fell flat and I am looking for support online.

I wish the best to you, lots of success and learning.

Amy

what is the cost of the bike?

I just recently had knee surgety and it sounds great for me.

Hi dt66, I could make room for the bike it is just the expense right now what time and channel are the workouts on cable. I should give that at least a try. And yes attitude says it all. Mind over matter is what I keep telling myself. Set my mind to it and the junk food doesn't matter.  It is nice to meet you keep in touch.
Hi ohiomom I'm soo glad I'm meeting people like me. Maybe we can all find the support we need. I have one friend who needs to loose about the same amount as I do and I have been telling her about CC. She will be getting her computer this weekend so maybe I can get her to check CC out. It has a lot of useful tools here. Good luck to everyone here..

Hi Deb, the workouts in my area are on cable on demand so you can do them and get them at a good time and fit them into your schedule. For instance, I am logging on only to log my food and stuff today and then doing one of the wlaking videos.....not my "scheduled day" but 1. there is nothing on tv i like tonight, and 2. after 5 days on cc, I was good all day and failed miserably at dinner.....last minute invite out, didn't work it into the plan. Although I went over my cals today, I made much better choices than I noramlly would have so despite the fact I went over, I feel better ab out the choices I made. Tomorrow is a new day......

Would love to keep in touch.....since I am new to this too, I am not sure how to do the friend list......will keep in touch!

thanks

dst66 added you to my buddy list all you have to do is click on the place where my picture should be (haven't added one yet) that will take you to my profile and at the top on the right is an add buddy click on that and it is done.
I hope this is right.Laughing

Deb! Welcome! You've come to the right place for support with your adventure. The people on this site are notorious for helping everyone get through the hard times as well as the good times. I'm so grateful I stumbled on to this place. Since Jan. 5th, I've lost 30 lbs and I have 80 to go.  I too use a recumbent stationary bike (used) and it helps a lot for burning the calories.  Good luck with your mission and just give a yell if you need anything.

Hi Deb,

I am new at this also. I joined yesterday. Need to lose 100# for my health. I am 58 yrs of age. I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Much happiness and success to you and all of us. Work it girl!!!!!!!!!!

Have been on since Jan. 08, looking to drop 50# and have shed 11 so far! Welcome aboard and good luck!

!Hi Deb Absolutely! thanks for showing me how to add...a newbie yourself and you are already helping others!!

I woke up the morning with the resolve to be better today and I did! I feel very proud of myself! I am considering treating myself to a 40 cal no sugar added fudgicle for a snack.....Sounds like not much of a treat, but it really is just enough for me for the taste. Sometimes it is all I need!

Hope you had a good day!
