I'm new to the site, but I'm definately not new to the weight loss struggle. I've been trying to lose weight since October of 2008. At my heaviest I was 165lbs. I've lost a bit since then, down to 138, but when my weight got a point where I didn't seem to lose anymore, I got frustrated and gave up. Thankfully, 5 months later I haven't gained anything back and I'm ready to start trying trying again. I have a few reasons for wanting to lose weight. Some of them have to do with my health, and some of them are just very shallow. My whole family is diabetic, save for me and I'd like to never get to that point so that's my biggest reason. But, I'd also like to look really good in a swim suit and show up some of my much skinnier friends, who all seem to think it's fun to poke my "cute" belly pooch. I don't think it's so cute, or  funny. My long term goal is to just be healthy and active, and stay that way. My short term goal, for now at least is to the work-out program I've started. I'm on day 2 of the "30 Day Shred" with Jillian Michaels. Other things I enjoy doing are going for walks with my fiance and our dog, jogging, and playing tennis on the Wii, though I'm not really convinced that counts as a work-out.

Good for you for the progress you've made so far! None of your reasons are shallow...not even a little bit. I gained 15 lbs after I quit smoking almost 9 months ago and I'm only 5'3" so it's very obvious I've gained weight. My clothes from last summer don't even fit anymore! I get tired of people telling me I look great for having 5 kids....I just wanna look great period! Wink Anyway, I'm new to this site as well and wanted to say hello!

How do you like the 30 day shred so far? I love the Biggest Loser and I love Jillian so I've been thinking about getting that. I'm currently doing the Biggest Loser 30 day jumpstart...today is only my second day and I've lost a pound already. I normally wouldn't get too jazzed about one pound, but it's been months since I've lost even a pound so I was pretty happy! I will tell you though that the wii most def counts as a workout! Anything that gets you off the couch and moving is a workout. Not to mention, I have muscles aching I didn't know I had after doing the bowling and the homerun thingy on the baseball! Smile
