Hi I'm new

Quote  |  Reply

About a month and a half ago I went to the doctors because of a recurring cold. I hadn't weighed myself in a long time so I had no idea how much I weighed. Turns out I weighed 291 pounds! It made me so sick. I'm 6'7'' so 291 pounds doesn't look as bad on me as it would on others, but that's still fat.

I have a real problem with binge eating. Up until that doctors visit, I had what may have been the worst diet in the world. I drank lots of soda and ate lots of junk food and fast food. I've pretty much stopped drinking sodas and only drink water or iced tea without sugar now. I still eat horribly though. I'm trying to eat better. I've bought some healthier snacks like broccoli and celery sticks but it feels like it doesn't matter when I binge and eat Taco Bell or something.

I bought a bathroom scale a few weeks ago but was too scared to get on it until today for fear that I had gained weight since the doctors. I got on it without any clothes on and it said I was 286. I figured this was because of the clothes. So after I took my shower and got dressed, I got on the scale again. This time it said 284?? I guess I can go with 286 as my weight now but why would I weigh less after taking a shower? And what is the best time of the day to weigh yourself?

Thanks for all your help

Jason

Weigh yourself the same time each day and under the same conditions. I do each day after I walk and after breakfast without clothes. So regardless of scale type, quality, and all the factors affecting your weight you get an accurate measurement of progress.

On weight loss----If you follow the Calorie Count guidelines and get some regular exercise you can easily drop pounds. I started watching the calories 2 years ago and started walking a year ago. I'm 6'2" and 55yo. I've lost 50lbs, took 7" off my waist, lowered my BP and cholesterol. It works.

This morning I got on the scale as soon as I woke up and it said I was 281 now. I could not have lost five pounds in two days!
