Hi, I'm new and just joined a few minutes ago. I have about a 100lbs to lose and was debating if I should join Weight Watchers for the umpth time and then I saw this website.
I'm ready to lose and be healthy again. Also, I'm taking Chandtix to quit smoking. I took it for the 1st week while continue to smoke as the directions say, but today is my quit day.
Wish me luck and good luck to everyone out there!!!!
I'm always rather staggered when people choose to quit smoking and start losing weight on the same day.... 'Gluttons for punishment' is the phrase that springs to mind.. ![]()
What I'd seriously suggest to you, therefore, is that you start by eating 'better' rather than 'less'. More wholefoods, less processed food... more vegetables, less fried food.... more water, fewer fizzy drinks.... Go with a 'maintenance' amount of calories and eat regularly. Don't hungry. Quitting smoking is quite hard on the nerves and good nutrition will give you the edge and help you cope. You'll lose weight at the same time because better food will mean you lose excess fluid.... and it's also more satisfying so you'll find you eat a little less anyway
When the cigarette cravings subside, that would be the time to start calorie-counting. Good luck
Well congrats on wanting to quit your habit...you can do it!! Don't look bad and find a substitute behavior that you can pick up when you want to light up. Good luck on your weight loss journey as well!! the CC tools are great!!
Taking the decision to get control back of your health is BIG! Good for you.
I agree with G Jane. I managed to loose 120 pounds and quit smoking but I began with the weight. Changing diet, introducing daily exercise into my life style and counting calories. After over a year, once I had shifted to maintinance on my diet I quit smoking.
Many would argue (and in retrospect I agree) that it is more important for your overall health to quit smoking first. You might want to try not to gain weight during the first 2 months of your quit by becoming more aware of what you eat and drink, eliminating or drastically reducing alcohol which can be a powerful trigger for smokers, and begin to add exercise to your daily regime (a brisk walk is a good replacement for that after lunch or dinner smoke.)
I strongly suggest you go to the smoke cessation section at about.com for tips.
you can find my smoking blog on http://quittingcigs.blogspot.com/
Good luck on your diet and quit.
Hi I am new also and I am going to try doing this rather than WW. WW was great and did work for me but I need a change. Good luck with the both.
