My name is Valerie, I am 46 years old, single mother of 3 adult children and grandmother to 2 adorable children. My highest I have weighed is 211 lbs., I am now at 189 lbs. I have just started (1 week ago) Herbalife Protein Shakes for 2 meals a day with snacks of fruit and cheese, and I have a normal healthy dinner. I am seeing progress, and it is very exciting.
I am doing this for me, my health, I have been recently diagnosed w/diabetes and high blood pressure. I am hoping if I get this weight off I will live longer for my children and grandchildren. My daughter is getting married in June of 2010, I want to be looking good and feeling great by then.
I need support and encouragement!!
Blessings, Val
Hi Valerie;
Welcome to the site and congrats on your weight loss. That is wonderful.
I am 40 years old and three kids (ages 7, 8 & 15) and I started out at 221.8 in July. I just lost 40 pounds as of this week and am also on a program where I am a replacing most meals with a shake. I too have diabetes and high cholesterol and am loosing weight to get healthy.
22 pounds is a great accomplishment and it is very exciting to see those numbers drop. How much are you wanting to loose? Are you also incorporating an exercise routine into your weight loss program? Are you having any trouble getting the shakes in during the day and can you only do 2 a day? I am curious because with my program it is supposed to be 5 a day but I will be honest, some days I am lucky to get in 3 or 4. I am finding it hard to give up "normal" foods all together. How did you drop the first 22 pounds before the shakes & what made you choose the shake route?

Hi Val,
Congratulations on your resolution to become leaner and healthier, that is great. Like you, I am 48 mom of a beautiful 20yr daughter, and having some issues of my own. I have to loose about 61 lbs, I do not have diabetes, but it runs in my family and I want to lower the odds as soon as possible. I did the shakes with Herbalife, they are great products, I became a distributor to cut the cost, but still with the ecconomy, It was too much for my budget, but the products are high quality. Right now I'm following the D-Tour Diet which is a diabetic diet, and is phenomenal. I hope to hear from your updates. My wedding anniversary is in July 2010 and would like to be a lot smaller by then.
