Hi Mommas!
Hi Ladies; It's been so long since I posted! Julia is great, has two teeth and is so friggin cute!!! Such a doll!! I've been well- just so BUSY. I'm trying to master the art of balance!! Working full time, being a mom, being a wife, being a GIRL (that part I have yet to conquer)- not enough hours in the day.
but, guess what I did? I threw out my scale. A month ago. I just couldn't have the added stress of knowing what my weigh was every day! I'm in a comfy size 8-10; which is a little bit bigger for me; but I feel great, I'm eating well (normally, pretty controlled; healthy)- and what is most important is that I'm such a NICER person since I've started this and I feel like myself again!
It's so true what they say. When you give birth- BOOM! You have a baby. But then all the adjustments- your marriage, your work, the workplace personalities.....plus getting to know this amazing creature that grew inside of you!! It really does take a while to start getting back into your "skin"
For right now, I simplu do not have time to get to the gym, unless I go at 8:45PM after I put her down. There's no time during work; I drop her off at 6:30AM so there's no time in the morning; but that cuts into DH time. So, I'm still trying to figure that one out. I'm going this weekend. My goal is to get there 3 times a week- not to excercise to lose weight; but to de-stress, have time for myself, and listen to my fav tunes.
Hope everyone is well. I'm getting back on the boards- I miss you! I'll post pics of Julia soon.
Hi, Vanessa! So happy to hear that everything is going well!
I, too, have given up on the meticulous calorie counting for now. I don't have a scale because I would obssess over it. I weigh myself once a week at the in-laws even though I'm not actively trying to lose weight. Once I stopped trying to lose weight, I started losing. Isn't that funny?!
You definitely seem much happier than some of the first posts after Julia was born. I think mothers (especially working mothers) spend the rest of their lives trying to acheive balance. I try not the think of the fact that my son and daughter spend 45 hours per week with a cargiver and only 41 (awake) hours with me each week. I think we just need to have as much fun as we can in the time that we have with them! Being healthy is important to me however it's not important enough to have exercise cut into my time with my husband and kids. We try to be as active as we can (when the weather permits) and not just sit around the house. We eat well and occasionally indulge in junk food. I know I am so much happier when I'm with my family than at the gym.
I think it's great that you are comfortable with your new body. I know my body changed a lot after my first child. I was (eventually) skinny even though I weighed more than I did pre-pregnancy. I was healthy but had gained some curves, stretch marks and some saggy areas. I couldn't be happier, though!
When my kids are infants, there's so much going on developmentally that I'm afraid I'll miss the "firsts" if I'm not around as much as I can be. I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way.
John's first tooth broke through sometime between yesterday morning and yesterday afternoon. It wasn't there when I felt it in the morning but it was when he got home last night. He's not even 4 months old and he has a tooth. Yeesh! Those razor-sharp baby teeth sure do hurt when mommy's nipple is used as a teething ring ;)
Again, I'm glad to hear everything is going so well! I can't wait to see some new photos!
It's so good to hear from you!! I can't wait to see new pictures! I have two sons at home (impatiently waiting for their next brother) and let me tell you.... as they get older, it will get easier. But cherish every moment you have with her as a little one!
I'm 36.5 weeks and counting.... I got stuck in the tub last night, and I was alone, it's the final straw! LOL!! My husband and I are also very impatient!!
Vanessa/Bier - TEETH! It all happens too fast!
Yes, it happens way too fast! We went in for John's 4 month checkup yesterday and even the doctor was surprised he had a tooth already. Luckily, I've only been bitten once so far but it's only been a week!
When my daughter was an infant, we started her on rice cereal at 4 months. Evidently that's not the thing to do anymore. Our doctor told us to wait until 5-6 months. No big deal because John still has the tongue thrusting reflex so I doubt we could get any food in his mouth.
flgirl, poor thing, getting stuck in the bathtub! I was always too afraid to take baths for this reason! How long did you have to spend in there before someone arrived to help you out?!
bier I ended up finally getting out on my own. I used my abdominal muscles way more than I should have, I even saw the outline of my son's body inside of me, it was a little creepy. The bath felt good but by the time I was out and lotioned up, etc... I was just as exhausted and achy as I was going in! There's just no middle ground, lol.

Super creepy! Then again, I got creeped out just by seeing a foot or knee.
