Turns out I still can't bring this back into my house.  The jar actually lasted a good 3-4 days which is probably some kind of record for me.

I know I'm not alone on this one..Wink

You're certainly not alone.  I sometimes gaze lovingly at the array of nut butters on sale at the supermarket before walking purposefully away... because I know if I buy a jar it will also not last more than a few days Smile  As sacrifices go, it's a small one.  Know your limitations, I say.

hello, my name is erica and i too am addicted to peanut butter.

it actually can't even be in my house anymore :|

Nut butters: the weight gainer's saviour.

I'd like to tell you all it IS possible to get sick of peanut butter!

oh gees.....I have 2 types of peanut butter, a jar of almond butter and a jar of cashew butter all in my cupboard. Plus tahini, which is kind of similar. My housemates all make fun of me

I right in the same boat with you, runningbuns. Can't have nuts anymore either. I ate both foods for years then BAM suddenly, I am addicted. Have to have it everyday and can't just eat one serving size. Spoon after spoon of the peanut butter and half or more of the can of nuts. Now exiled from my house, never to be seen again :(

No joking here either!!

I'm glad I'm not alone.  I've tried just about every peanut butter and nut butter and the result is always the same.  An empty jar and a spoon in my hand..wondering what on earth happened?!! Tongue out

I have had some nasty binges on pb.. im talking pb protien bars covered in more pb!  Not my finest hour.

I know some people think its gross but I actually like PB2 and don't get the urge to binge on it... it give me my little nut butter fix once in a while :)

I can't keep it in the dorm anymore, or I too will just eat all of it. I can't resist! Back when my bingeing problem was at its worst, I used to go crazy on the PB. But I'm also a runner, and after a few highly unpleasant workouts post-PB binge I've decided to just exile it from my presence, haha.

Hey, I also like peanut butter alot. Except now, I've actually eaten so much of it, that I get a little naseous when I think about eating it.

I love anything with peanut butter in it! I cant keep it in the house though either or else i would eat spoonfuls and spoonfuls at a time.

I am one of those people who do not eat things out of the jar/drink out the carton but when it comes to PB...i'm right in the jar with a knife, spoon, anything that scoops it out in big lots lol. Luckily for me, i love PB but i can control myself to some extent. Its one teaspoon of PB for me this morning lol. Any more and i won't stop :)

What is with us people on a diet with Pb and nuts? I mean people who eat what ever they want have no problem with just eating one and walking away, or(gasp) not even likeing Pb at all.

Haha, lalabanana - that is soooo true about it being the weight gainers savior! I would literally eat a jar every couple days when I had to have over 4000 calories to gain weight/not lose when I first started refeeding after my ed.

I'm an addicted to PB too! I just love it. Even worse: I mix splenda with mine. omg it tastes like reeses pb. :p

I read an article once that made a lot of sense (don't ask me for the link, I wish I could find it again!).  It basically said we are genetically programed to crave high calorie foods like sugars and fats.   Its a left over bio instinct from times when food sources might be scarce for days at a time, so your body forced you to crave to eat these high energy, calorie dense foods so it could load up on fat for periods it might not have food again.  Just remember, life stacks the deck but you deal the cards ... will power!  :-)

PB is a COMMON addiction, my husband is so addicted I dont keep it in the house. I dunno,  I only like it when its with jelly...

I could eat peanut butter at every meal for the rest of my life and not get tired of it. It doesn't really fit into my healthy eating plan, though, so I decided to eliminate it from the house. Then I got married and solved my addiction problem! My husband can't see/smell/taste peanuts or peanut butter without throwing up, so my choice is simple. Deal with "pitiful sick husband syndrome" or give up the PB. Every once in a while, I eat a PB&J sandwich during lunch, but I have to make sure I brush my teeth before going home.

Maybe I'll put an AD up for "Wanted: a husband that revolts at the site/smell of peanut butter".....Wink

Steer clear of samonella! They've recalled not only peanut butters, but also certain luna bars and clif bars as well.

I've learned to portion my food out now, but I too am a nut and peanut butter addict. When I was in my binging stages I would casually walk by the fridge take a large spoon out of the drawer and say "Ah, just a spoonful." Have a spoonful...then say "Ah, what the hell? One more." Then I would feel guilty and put it back only to be back there again within 15-20 minutes doing the same thing all over again. And nuts my god...I would buy those baker's bags of almonds and eat handful after handful of them. Get a jar of cashews in front of me and I would be munching away. Eeek. I'm glad I learned self control, but I had to learn my lesson first. *knocks on wood. :/
