Hi, new to the idea of counting calories

Quote  |  Reply
Ready(not so ready) to hit fifty and realizing I need to lose some weight and many inches.  Limited in excercises I can do right now because of recent surgery but am trying this counting calories thing.  Never realized what I was putting in my mouth.  Can use all the support I can get.  My boyfriend says he is behind me but then brings home cookies or wants a mac & cheese pizza.  Laughing

Hey,

I know the feeling about the boyfriend. Luckily mine is still living in his own home. My boys are the worst they so support me, yet won't eat the healthy stuff I make, so I end up making two dinners. I am slowly transitioning them to my food though, they just don't realize it, LOL. I am here if you need support. The more support you have the easier it gets. Anytime you are down, give me shout. I would love to hear about your accomplishments and set backs. We all have em' so lets share and realize that we just have to get right back up on the horse when we fall off.

Hope to hear from ya.

Hey - I know what you mean. I tell my husband that I am starting Slim Fast & he comes home with Tostito Scoops! Grrr. I'm also new to the calorie counting thing, but it seems to be pretty effective! I'm able to keep an eye on what I am eating much better than I was with Weight Watchers, or doing whatever I wanted.  Today I went out and bought the Best Life Diet book - I don't watch Oprah, but I guess she is pretty close with Bob Greene? Well, his advide seems to be pretty smart, and he is a fan of SF. Plus, I got Calorie Counting books, one for at home & one I can keep in my bag for when I am out. Hopefully they will help me make smarter decisions. It's just hard to break the habits that I have, like snacking on my daughters snacks - goldfish, string cheese, etc (she'll be 3 in april). Anyway, good luck!! And feel free to drop me a line if you need a push, or just need to vent.

I have found that keeping track of what you eat really keeps you on track. I really need this website after the holidays. Don't give up. I live with a semi-junk food addict too and I have trying to get him to eat healthier and make better choices. He needs to lose a few pounds and exercise. He used to be faithful about running, but time is very limited with 4 children and their various activities.

Make notes for yourself around the house and set a obtainable goal for yourself. That way you are always kept on task and have something to strive for. Come here often to remind yourself of the importance of eating healthy!!!
