I am 40 years old, 5"5 and 148 . My goal is 137 and i should be 137 by July. Would like to find somebody to do this together, to support and to help to reach goals.

Hi everyone - just checking in because my internet was down yesterday. My step-daughter came back from a volunteer vacation in Peru, so we were pretty busy with her wonderful stories of her trip. But boy, did she miss American food! She had to eat Guinea Pig (it's their "fancy" dish there, served to honored guests!)
Couldn't do the gym yesterday, but Mackenzie went to bed early, so I was able to walk a mile after that. Just trying to do some cardio every day to get my motabalism up, now that I think I'm in the early stages of Menopause. I will go to the doctor and check things out as soon as I'm able.
I've been good all week, so it will be interesting to see what the scale says tomorrow. Then we're going to an all day BBQ! I know what everyone's bringing so I'm going to sit down and plan my food - otherwise I'll graze all day, and you know how that is! Here's hoping I can stick to it! Maybe I'll work out early in the morning and burn a ton, so I can relax and have fun tomorrow!

Another post - I just realized: We're going out to eat tonight, then to the BBQ, then Saturday is my birthday and my husband is taking me out! AARRGGHH!!! How am I going to do all this partying??????

Alison you can do it, make the right choices and enjoy the day. Stay away from the guinea pig, it's probably high in calories lol I will be at an all weekend BBQ, so wish me luck too, I will try my best. Keep up the cardio it makes a huge difference.
Leila hope you have a fun weekend with all that walking you will be doing. Take lots of picture that you can share with us. We will all have to try to get in any exercise we can this weekend, I'm hoping my grandson helps me burn off some calories.

Almost forgot that I have to tell you guys my new weight. Last Friday was like a nightmare, but this one is like a dream. Are you ready for this? Last week I was 110.4, I wasn't happy with that because I weighed that weeks ago. So this morning I hop on the scale and thought I read it wrong, so I jumped on two more times. I had a great week, my current weight is 108.6, down almost 2 pounds since last week. I hope it is all fat loss and not muscle loss, from lack of going to the gym. At this point I don't care what kind of loss it is, better than a gain.
I bought a new bathing suit yesterday and I actually like how it looks. I said I would not wear one this year, but have to go in lake with JC this weekend, so I gave in. Hooray for not crying while trying on a bathing suit. O.k. thats enough, just wanted everyone to know that I am pleased with my week. When I get home after the weekend, I will be checking in to see how you guys did.

I weighed myself this morning and it's 143.00, i lost another pound. I am really happy about that, it's moving, that's great. Congratulations, Lori, good job, 2 pounds. I am wondering how did your weigh in go, Alison? Yes, that's a long week-end and you, guys enjoy food, but watch the calories. Alison, Happy Birthday, if i won't see you on Saturday! Now all restaurants has special part of the menu where you can find food with less calories or they have different portion sizes. You will be fine, i am sure
My birthday is coming soon too, 19th of July, i will be 41. If it won't be raining this week-end as the weatherforecast say, we will go to Annapolis as we were planning. It's pretty dark now, so probably it will start raining soon. But i am planning to go to the gym anyway. I know what you mean, Lori. I tried yesterday the skirt that i couldn't wear, it feels so good to know that it fits you now and looks great.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALISON!
I'm really scared! I ate like a pig all day Fri and Sat, I didn't make any good choices. I ate things that I never should have and way to much of them. I was talking to a lot of people about dieting while away, and they all have different opinions. One girl told me that when she goes crazy way over and above her calorie limit for two days straight she loses (makes no sense to me). Another girl said that two or three days later is when I will notice it on the scale, thats why I am scared. I got on this morning and I went down in weight, I am so afraid of jumping on in a couple of days. Well if I have a significant gain it's my own fault, I did horrible. I'm hoping that the first girl's opinion was right and I stay down, but I doubt it. My forth was awesome , I hope everyone else had a great time and did better than I did. Looking forward to hearing about everybody's weekend.
Hi Everybody! Well... I weighed myself on Saturday and I was 127 -so at least I'm not 128 like I was mid-week. I realized something a few days ago. I kept eating my 1300 calories, even though I wasn't exercising! that's obviously why I stopped losing. Now that Mac's swim stuff is done, I SWEAR I'm back on the wagon and will exercise regularly! That should do it. I know I was "swimming" with my daughter, but it's not the same as working out - it's just holding her and making sure she doesn't drown :-)
I did great on the 4th, really watched it, kept my portions in control. I PIGGED out yesterday at my birthday dinner, but it was a Thai restaraunt and I'd been lean on the calories all day to plan for my pig out, so hopefully not a lot of damage done. But gosh, I was really uncomfortable last night. I'm used to that light eating now so it's not even worth it to pig out - Lori, did you have the same experience? Were you uncomfortable?
Leila - Congrats girl! You are doing so awesome! I am aware that we were trying to lose 10 by July and here it is! I'd better get busy, I've only lost 4 or 5!
Thanks for the birthday wishes, girls :-) I got money for new clothes which I will spend when I've lost that 10!

Well, my long weekend was very good, i did some shopping, cleaned apartment and just had a rest, was enjoying doing nothing. I didn't overeat, on the contrary it was hard to eat 1200 calories. Unfortunately we couldn't go to Annapolis as i planned because it was raining all weekend. But we spent a lot of time shopping and spending couple nice and comfy evenings at home watching moves. I don't feel like eating much anymore, my portion sizes got really smaller. I am happy for you, Alison that you had a nice birthday. I am sure you didn't do a lot of damage, you were getting ready for the celebration. Then what could be so high in calories in Thai restaurant? I managed to go to the gym 2 times, on Friday and Sunday and had a good workout one day on ecliptical machine, another day on the stationary bicycle. We were walking a lot in the mall, i was so tired by the end of the day, that my legs were shaking.
It is still hot here and i am so tired of this, i can't wait when fall will come. I am very happy with my pounds i lost. It seems that i was counting calories for ever, can't even imagine now that i was eating different way before. As i said i have birthday coming soon too and i don't know yet what i am going to get,but would be happy to get mony for new clothes. Just like you , Alison, i want to get new clothes when i will loose my 10 pounds.

Alison glad you had a nice birthday. Yes I did feel uncomfortable, but not until the day after I stopped eating so much(Sun). I know what you mean about the change when you don't workout, I really slowed down on that and it blew everything for me. I wish I was like leila and had a hard time eating my limit, no such luck. In May I was losing at least a pound a week, and in June it seems like things slowed way down. I know it is because the excitement of going to the gym wore off. It is so hard to get back on track and go all the time. In May I wouldn't let anything get in the way of me gong, now I make excuse not to go. If I want to lose a few more pounds, I really have to get back to being dedicated again. I've never eaten but from what Leila wrote, I didn't think you did to bad. A few more pounds to go, to reach your goal. Are you concerned about how hard it will be to keep it off? I keep saying that if having a bad day or two puts some weight back on, how am I going to maintain my goal weight. At first I thought it would be easy to eat like this forever, but now I find that it so easy for me to eat fattening foods. If I was like Leila, I would have it made. Did your daughter get to see fireworks?
Leila you are always the one getting exercise. Remember when you started this thread I was so into the gym? What happened, how did I lose interest so fast? I feel like that first month I was like a kid with a new toy and then got bored with it. It wouldn't be so bad if I had a hard time eating like you do, but I love to eat. It would be like a dream if at night I was saying " I have to eat more, I haven't had enough calories today". I think you are very lucky to have so many days like that, I'm envious. Sorry to hear about the rain and your canceled weekend plans. Sounds like you got to enjoy the weekend regardless. How long have you been counting calorie? I'm just wondering if maybe some day it will become habit and it won't feel like a diet any more. ( wishful thinking right?)
I know I have been saying this every week, but I'm going to say it once again " I will start going to the gym more often again". My weight lose is probably all muscle the past month from not going, I hope some of it was fat.
I wanted to reach my goal by the end of July and I don't have much time left.

It's not so easy for me too, Lori. Sometimes it is hard to go to the gym if i will miss once or twice, it is really hard to go back on track. That's why i try not to miss too much, i go anyway,even if i am tired and don't have a lot of energy, i do bicycle or do the treadmill. I just know that to loose wait i need to burn calories and i want to loose weight so bad. As for my eating now, it is true, i can't eat my limit. Yesterday for example, i hardly ate 1200 but i seemed to me that i ate so much more . I changed my strategy in eating a little, before i had 3 big meals, now i prefer to eat little meals but more often. That works better for me and i eat a lot of fruits, i love it. I started to count calories in May and at first it was difficult, but now it's getting easier every day, it is becoming a habit and it doesn't feel like a diet for me. I can eat whatever i want only in little portions and i bake at home when i want something sweet. I use whole wheat pastry flour that cut many calories, i use it in the reciepts instead of white flour. For me it tastes the same. Once in a while i can eat a piece of cake that i bake. I don't like store bought cakes and never eat them. I love baking and cooking. My goal date according to the website is August 15, so i just try to be patient and wait for this day. After that i will probably have another goal, more 5 pounds to loose.
I am sure that you will be motivated to go to the gym again,Lori. Don't miss more than couple days, it will be harder to come back, i know this on my own experience. Try to go even if you have only 20 minutes and do something. I take my book and my music with me and sometimes music motivates me.
Alison I usually watch TV while on the bike or treadmill. I just won an IPOD this weekend in a raffle, so maybe I will try bringing music. I don't even know how to use it, my son said he would load my favorite sons into it. I did so well with only 1200 calories in May and felt very satisfied, I guess I will look at my food log, and go back to things I was eating when I started. I know I can do this, I'm not going to stop trying. Thanks for the pep talk, I needed it.
Hi Lori, Actually it was me, Leila who wrote the last. You are welcome, we are here to help each other when we need support. IPOD sounds good, you will see it will help you a lot. Did you pay attention that almost everybody in the gym is wearing these little IPODs? Well, they do it for the reason.

Hi everyone! Yes, IPODS rock. I heard recently that there was a study of people who were walking off their weight, and the people who were listening to music lost double what the non-music listeners lost. We natururally work out to the rythym of the music which is faster than we would normally work out.
Lori - just imagine leila on one shoulder and me on the other encouraging you when you start convincing yourself no gym today. It will cycle around and you will start liking it again. Or find a gym class that you love, something different!
I went to my powercuts class this morning and worked my butt off - it was wonderful. Stomach, legs, arms, chest and jumprope. It had been too long and I really missed it. And I was thinking about you two and thinking how great it would be if we all lived in the same town and could work out together. Wouldn't that be fun?
We did see fireworks on the 4th out on a lake, a big city sponsered event. Well - my child became "velcro girl", completely freaked out and wrapped herself around me. Poor thing, I should have prepared her better. Her Dad scooped her up and took her away for some cotton candy. But no harm done - on the way home she'd already processed it into a good memory saying "I saw fireworks!" It was so cute!
So... I'm going to Miami tomorrow. I can't keep up with the trips! This one is fun - my husband directs the Miss Florida USA pageant, and they put him up in the nicest hotel (nicer than anything we'd normally stay in :-)! So, of course, we join him! I'm not nervous about going overboard - it's easy to eat healthy whenever I go. I think it's because the hotel is filled with the most beautiful, young girls in the state. It's a really good motivator. And you should see the men! The fall all over themselves, it's hilarious! I should be able to check in with you guys - I'll bring my laptop. EAt well both of you, and LOri, go to they gym, you'll be so happy you did!

I wish I could join classes, but my gym doesn't offer any, I bet that would really help me. I will be one of the people rocking out, working out twice as hard. Alison sorry to hear that the little one turned into velcro girl, but glad it turned into a good memory.
Miss America pageant that sounds interesting, maybe someday the three of us will be in a pageant lol I'm able to dream right? Enjoy your stay in Miami Alison.
It would be great if the three of us could work out together. That would be the best motivation for all of us. I guess I will have to settle for thinking of you guys behind me when I have to get to the gym.

IPOD is a great thing, i have got my first one a year ago, before i had a cd player , you probably laughing at me. I was so old fashioned that when my husband told me about IPOD i couldn't understand why is it so much better than my cd player. Imagine that we are with you when you are in the gym
Ask your son to put your favourite music with good rythm and you will be good to go.

I'm doing good today. I went to the gym early this morning, you were both with me. It's my cousins birthday, so I took her out for breakfast. I had 2 poached eggs on dry toast. After that we went to the beach for a few hours, so I was able to burn some calories there as well. I haven't picked enough songs for the IPOD yet. Maybe my son will put them on tonight and I will bring it to the gym tomorrow. ( See that already planning the gym for tomorrow).
It is so hot here today and will be all week. My other half has a softball game tonight, maybe I will go watch it while walking around the park. It is so hot that I was dripping with sweat just going from car to house ugh! Leila I think today I will be way under my calorie limit, don't even feel like eating it's so hot. That is a switch for me, maybe this week I'll do good because of the heat.

I was in your shoes so many times when you just can't eat anything because of the heat. By the end of the day i am under my calorie limit and i should eat something else after i have dinner. I can't eat big meals anymore, small meals and i eat more often, that works much better for me. You would think that it is good when you are under your limit at the end of the day, no it's not. YOu just don't know what to eat to be at least at 1200.

Have a good workout tonight Leila. I hope the rain cools things down for you. After dinner tonight I will have about 300 calories left, so I will be able to snack while reading or watching tv. I was out all day today and I was starving, so I pulled into a Wendy's drive thru. I got a value menu crispy chicken sandwich ( very small), nothing else with it. I figured no fries it can't be to bad, I was so mad when I looked it up and it was 380 calories. I could have so much more food for that amount of calories, with food that is good for me. I know better now, never go to a drive thru.
I had very good workout tonight, although it was raining hard, but unfortunately it didn't cool down the heat. Well, i know what you mean, Lori , about this fast food . It is so high in calories, but when you eat it,it's like you didn't eat at all. I don't like fast food in general, just don't eat it. The only place i like is Chick-fil-a, i love char grilled chicken salad there, i buy it there all the time for lunch at work. I liked Panera bread before, but now i looked up all there sandwiches and was horrified. They are all 300 and more. You can only eat there soup and salad. I am 300 calories under too, even after dinner. Well, i will snack on watermelon
I have good news, i mesured today myself first time since i started, and i lost 3 inches in waist and 3 inches in butt. I am so happy about that!

Good job Leila congratulations! Wow 3 inches that is awesome, I am so proud of you. I haven't measured myself in so long, maybe I will for motivation. Now you must really need new clothes, things must be falling off. It will be fun shopping, you wont even know what size to try on. I wish things cooled down for you, but you still had a good workout, so thats what counts. Keep up the good work.
I can't go to the gym today or any Thursday now. My daughter started back to work now that the baby is over a month old, she is only going back two days a week. She will work Sun and Thurs, kids will be at home with their dad on Sundays and here with me on Thursdays. Today will be my first day having both of them for 12-14 hours, wish me luck. I will have to work around it and make sure I get to gym every Wed and Fri.
