have a great day , everybody
Hi everyone, I'm getting nervous about the long weekend. Saturday I'm going golfing ( not really I'm driving the cart), so I will be busy all day. Sunday and Monday we will be out on the bike, no exercise there either. I'll be sitting on the back, and there isn't any pedals so I'm screwed. Bike days always mean way to much eating, I'm hoping that this year can be different. Harleygirl how are we going to do it? My plan is to get to the gym very early all three mornings, to get it out of the way. I'm kind of disappointed in myself, because the weekend isn't here yet, and I'm already thinking I want to take a day off. Wishing all of you a healthy and fun weekend. Weather is going to be nice all weekend here in Boston, so I am a happy camper.
Hello everyone,
I see lots of new people have joined the chat since I was here last! It's very motivating to read about all the exercise classes you guys do - wow!
I'm the one who posted about the "Cheater's Diet" - that's the actual name of the book. I don't know who wrote it, because I just got it from the library, and I've returned it. The basic premise was 5 days dieting, 2 days off every week as a way to boost your metabolism. There were also other rules, like off-limits foods, and recommended foods, but I don't remember all the details. I'm more following a basic low-fat diet with 1300 calories being my recommended intake at this site. I usually go a bit lower than that, though, during the week, and I don't go nuts on the weekends, more like I just don't count the calories as carefully, and if I want a treat, I'll have it then.
I've lost 10 lbs since I started dieting mid-April, but the last week has been a bit of a plateau - probably due to more days off than on because of family events and the long weekend! LOL
I live in BC, Canada, for the record. It's very interesting to meet everyone from so many different places.

Hello everybody,
I did my first weigh in since i started on the CC two weeks ago and sadly my weigh didn't change,it is the same. I am upset, that all my work didn't bring anything good yet. But i guess i will just stick with the plan, many people on the website say that it really works. Liz, 10 pounds that's great result!!! How soon did you start loosing weight? I wonder if i am doing something wrong. But i eat as much as CC recommends, and i exercise. I ordered couple DVDs with cardio and strength and i am going to exercise at home too. Who else have results and what can you recommend? I really need advice. Today is beautiful day here in Maryland and we have 3 day week-end. I will have time to go to the gym and watch my calories.
have a wonderful week-end
Leila
Leila, I didn't lose anything the first two weeks either, but then on the third week it all kicked in. Keep up the good work, and don't give up. Things will happen soon. I sent you a message. Have a great weekend.
Hi Nursescarels,
Thank you so much for your support. I send you message too.
have a wonderful week-end
Hi Everyone,
Whether we like it or not. . . . . the three day weekend is coming. I am in CT, so the weather is supposed to be beautiful all weekend long here too. We have a motorcycle run on Sunday. That takes most of the day, so I'll be pretty safe that day. However, Saturday and Monday, I plan on just taking it one hour at a time. I am going to pace my drinks, and think about what I am doing when I start reaching for the food. We have the advantage of not having to worry about driving or anything, because we camp with a bunch of friends right there on the lawn. It is quite the secluded location, so we have no reason to go anywhere else.
Speaking of Boston, I'll be up your way next week Nursescarels. My daughter will be having her re-enlisting ceremony at Fenway Park on May 29th. She's in the Navy and that is where she decided that she wanted her ceremony. She has already been over to Iraq twice, but now on June 10th, her and my grandaughter and son-in-law will be moving to Italy for 3 years. I guess I'll have to visit Italy on vacation next year. . . . woe is me!!!!! lol. It is going to be tough though and I'll be coming out here alot, cause it would be real easy to be wanting some comfort food. Oh well, that is another time.
Just remember we are the only ones who can control what we do. It is all about choices. OURS!!!!
Hi everyone - I did my weigh in and I've lost a little, but I'm not sure how much. I am 128.5 right now. I don't have a scale at home. My best guess at my starting weight was 132, but I know I haven't lost 3.5 lbs! So I must have been 130 or so. I'd say I've lost 1.5.
Leila - I know you're discouraged, but hang in there. My sister had the same experience as you and Nursecarels, it took her a few weeks to start losing, and she's lost 35 pounds doing calorie counters! Remember how we said that we're not looking at this as a diet, but a lifestyle? If you look at it that way, than taking a week or two to ramp up to losing is nothing! Keep on doing what you're doing and you WILL lose. It's for times like this that you have us: so you don't lose heart.
I'm so jealous of you New Englanders; I was born in Manchester, CT and my whole family lives in CT and a few in Boston too. Just beautiful up there!
I hope everyone has a great weekend and makes great choices!
Alison
Hi Alison,
Congratulations!!! 1.5 pound is good for the beginning. Thank you for your support, that means a lot to me. I was really disappointed and upset when i looked at the scale, but now i feel better because of you. You know, i am really looking at this like a new lifestyle, not like a diet. So, i will just continue doing what i started and then we will see. Hopefully in a week or so i will see results. That is impressive, 35 pounds, your sister is probably so happy
thank you for beeing here for me
have a wonderful week-end
Leila
Hey Leila, Hows weekend going so far? I thought I would check in, home from my long day out. I didn't do to bad, it could have been much worse. I didn't have any drinks, which was hard because everyone else did. I had healthy meals for lunch and dinner, but portions were pretty big. I had no idea how many calories because we were out to eat. I tried to look everything up and guessed, hope I wasn't to far off. We are going out on the bike all day tomorrow and then to a BBQ, so it will be hard for me again, but I will try hard to be good. Hope you are doing well, and eating healthy. Smile a lot, it takes a lot of muscles lol
Hi Lori,
Week-end is going good so far. We went with friends to Russian restaurant for dinner. Some russian food can be fattening, with different kind of cream based sauces, fried and desserts are unbelievable. So, i did really good today, i did it a vegetable salad and a small piece of chicken "Kiev"( it's breaded and fried chicken) with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. So it was under 400 calories and i didn't have any dessert, although everybody has one. I think i was good. Was not able to go to the gym today, but will go tomorrow for sure. We are going to Washington tomorrow to talk around and to go to the museums. The weather today was beautiful. I am ended under my calorie range, but i think that i will have a scoop of my fat free frozen yogurt but will be bring me closer to my number.
Bike is great, i guess you will burn a lot of calories before your BBQ. Have fun tomorrow, i am sure you will do good :-)
Leila
Leila, My last message was misleading , sorry about that. I will not be getting any exercise on the bike today. It's a Harley and I will be on the back enjoying the weather. I'm not even going to the gym today, today is my day to relax and have fun. I will make sure to eat only 1200 calories, so I won't feel bad later. I have noticed something strange. On the days I don't make the best decisions with my food, the next morning the scale likes me. On the days that I eat the healthiest foods and feel hungry, the next morning the scale, kicks me in the face. Don't get me wrong I stay at the 1200 cal mark on all days, but the results are not the same. Maybe once the weight starts coming off, it just stays on a roll. Like I said nothing for the first couple of weeks, now every day I have a loss. ( even if only a few ounces). Keep up the good work, and have a great workout today. I hope that tonight we can both send each other a message saying we had a good day.
Where is ever body else? I hope having fun and eating healthy. Come on everybody we are all here for each other. Let's stay motivated, share your weekend with us. Enjoy and stay safe. Lori
Hi Lori,
I am staying in my 1700 calories range, sometimes i am at 1600s. But i never go over my range. I eat when i am hungry and it leaves me sometimes at 600 calories for dinner. But i manage. We are going to have a lot of walking today, probably won't be able to go the gym today. I didn't weight myself yet from Friday, i want to wait couple days and weight-in on next Friday. I am addicted to the scale and i used to weight myself almost everyday. Don't want to do this again. I am sorry, i thought about bicycle when you wrote about bike. You meant motorcycle :-)
Enjoy your week-end
Leila
Hi everyone - sounds like everyones doing really well, considering all the celebrating going on. Me? Well, I went and got sick! Couldn't go to any of my parties, and I'm living on tea and toast and chicken soup. And now my husband is sick too! Oh well..... it's keeping me away from pizza and cake!
Alison
Hi Alison,
I am sorry to hear that you are sick. I spend day in Washington today walking around with my husband. The weather was wonderful, hot with a little breeze. I didn't get to the gym today, but i was walking all day long, so i think it was good for me. Did good with food choices, no dessert :-) just had stewed chicken with rice. In my calories range, a little under, but i still have time to have something for dessert, frozen yogurt maybe.
hope you will better soon
Leila
Alison, hope you feel better soon.
Leila, Sounds like you had a fun day yesterday, I'm happy to hear that.
As for me, my weekend was a lot of fun. I managed to stay within my calorie limit, both Saturday and Sunday. Sunday I even managed to fit in two martinis while relaxing in a friends hot tub at a BBQ. Our Bike ride (harley) was very enjoyable, the weather was perfect all day. I got to eat good food, just had small amounts. Only downfall to the whole three day weekend, was it got cut short. We had plans to ride again today, but the martinis put a stop to that. I had the worse hangover all morning today. I haven't had a drink in over a month, then ate lightly, got a really good buzz from to drinks. Well today my head is paying the price, ouch it hurts so bad. So we stayed in today and have been relaxing watching TV. Thinking if I feel better later, we may do something, but that doesn't look good. Over all, I'm very happy, ate right, nice ride, fun with friend, hot tub and a couple drinks.
Looking forward to hearing about how everyone else did this LONG weekend.
Hi Lorri,
Here is another week and it's difficult to start working after such a long and nice week-end. I had fun this week-end, the weather was wonderful, sunny and even hot. We were walking a lot, then i was cooking yesterday for a week and then watching TV and just relaxing. I did good, can't eat as much a i ate before anymore, can eat only half portion now. So i didn't eat 1700 calories, ate just 1460. Really wanted to weigh myself in but decided to wait until Friday.
Looks like you had a lot of fun on week-end too, hot tub sounds really good :-)
have a nice day
Leila
Hi everyone - just checking in. We're still sick here! Just a yicky old cold that drags on. I've been awfully lazy, just sitting around whenever I can. I can't wait to be exercising again. I feel very boring. I went over my calories over the weekend because all I wanted was starchy, bready foods and fruit juices. Not too bad, but I need to get back on course with the veggies and fruits. What I love, though, is how aware we all are when we get off track. We get right back on it. That's very different for me.
Anyway, I'll check back in soon. Hope harleygirl and bunny hop check in soon!
Alison
Hello Everybody. Don't know how I managed it, but I had a lobster roll that I have been craving for a month and stayed under my allowed calories. Today might be a gym free day, as I was up all night with my daughter in the hospital. I thought I might have another grandson today, but I guess that's not happening. Today I have so much running around to do, my baby has his prom on Friday night. Tux is ready, have to pick that up. Florist called, they don't have the flowers that I ordered, have to go back to pick out something else ( son should be doing that lol ). Off to pay the balance on the limo after that. Then I'm going for an ultrasound with my daughter and son-in-law( seems like a waste of time, had one last night). Maybe I can fit the gym in tonight, I much rather go in the morning, but thats life. I think I will plan to eat less and skip the gym, I know not a good choice, but I am tired. I know it's not all about me, how is everyone else doing? Alison hurry up and get better. Leila, how was work? harleygirl where are you? Happy exercising, if you have time do some for me lol. Have a great day!
Hey Nursescarels,
You have got so many things going on right now...wonderful things! Hang in there. It's the food choices that are key in busy and stressfull times - more so than the gym. My thoughts are with you and your daughter!
Hello everybody,
Alison, i know how you feel. I hate being sick because you are bored so much, you don't know what to do. Although you are at home and you have stuff to do, but you can't. Oh well, just hope you will feel better soon and will start exercising again. You know, you need a little comfort food when you are sick, so don't worry , you will be right back on track when you will feel better.
Wow, Liz, you are really busy. I can't imagine that you think about gym being so crazy busy with your family, you are incredible :-) I hope you will have your grandson any day now! I am doing all right. I found out yesterday maybe one of the reasons why i didn't loose any weight , i put the wrong activity level. Now i should eat 1400 calories which sound much better to me than 1700 calories. It was too much food to eat for me. And yesterday was the first day i was on 1400 cal and felt great. So hopefully now it should work. I went to the gym last night and spend an hour their riding bicycle and doing treadmill. Planning to go today to the gym again and can do some exercising for you :-) Have a wonderful day without any problems .
Leila
Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
