Help! how do I stop hiccuping????? !!!!!!!!!!!!
Reason: Moved Lounge to Health & Support
hang upside down from a tall building and try to drink water from the wrong side of a glass while swirling it. Then have someone drop you. By the time the bungee effect wears off, they should be gone.
Sorry - sometimes it is like a muscle spasm, and there is just not much you can do.

Eh, the plane question was an experiment. In person, if you ask someone who has the hiccups, "What does an airplane do?" usually the the hiccups will stop when they try to figure out the answer.
I drink soda, works everytime.
Two hours ... still hiccuping.... I do not have any soda at home, and thought long and hard about airplanes. :(

I don't know. I've never had extended hiccups.
My grandmother love her weird medical/nutrition articles. Whenever I see her she has some new statistic about whether bananas make you gain weight around your middle, or the effect chocolate has on your skin.
Once, though, she claimed that there was a pressure point on your head that makes hiccups go away. I think she said it was at the top of your head, where it dips in a little bit. Hell, maybe there's something to it.
Take a spoon full of sugar, add enough water to moisten it, eat. Follow with a spoonfull of water. I used to do this when I was little, mostly as an excuse to eat sugar, but it works sometimes. ![]()

Whenever I have hiccups, I stand on my head and swallow. Sounds weird I know, but it always would work for me! Maybe it actually has something to do with the pressure on your head thing someone else mentioned..

Ok the building idea seemed a little extreme lol. What this is a spasm in your diaphram. Heres what you do, you take a deep breath, at the same time raise up your right arm above your head. Like you are raising your hand in class. HOLD your breath and Count for a "true"10 seconds. Then SLOWLY release your breath at the same time bringing your arm slowly down to your side. Usually works the first time but you may need to do it again.
Cute story, went to make a bank deposit. One of the acct managers had a miserable case of the hiccups to the point it was really funny and then became painful. I showed her what to do. It worked right off the bat and I got a standing ovation from her co workers LOL.
