Too high deficit?
I recently joined the gym and go for up to a hour a day. Because of this i have had very big deficits (about 1 100 give or take a bit) for about 10 days. Last week, i lost barley anything.
Would this be why and whats the biggest daily deficit i can have per day?
(I know i should be eating more, i'm just having trouble adjusting but i am trying harder, so please no lecturers
)
Work with a deficit of 500-700. That's about the most efficient gap to keep. However, also make sure that you're accurately logging everything you eat. The most common reason for failing to lose weight is 'eating too much'.
Could be that you aren't eating enough for what your body is consuming at the gym so its storing more? I don't think there is a limit but I have found that the more exercise I do the more calories I eat and it works for me. Could be that you are gaining muscle too and being that that weighs more than fat, have you checked your measurements rather than just relying on the scales?
They have not budged ever since i started at the gym. I have been getting really tired from the gym as well so i am trying to eat more which will hopefully help.
Definitely eat more. Getting tired is basically your body trying to conserve energy because it doesn't think it has enough for your level of activity. But also realize that if you just recently started a new workout routine, the muscles you're using are going to tend to hold on to a lot more water, both because they need to repair themselves (this is a good thing) and because they're going to tend to store more glycogen in them, which holds water (also a good thing).
Don't let this discourage you from working out though. Long term, excercise is the best tool to take off weight and keep it off while making you look better and be healthier.
Thank you very much for that advice, i feel a lot better and motivated to still push myself at the gym, no wondering if i am sweating out for nothing lol. I have noticed my muscles (legs) have been a bit sore so thats obviously the glycogn like you said. Thanks so much, i really appreciate it :)
