High fructose corn syrup ADS?

Quote  |  Reply

Has anyone seen these? The advertisements on TV that tell you just how healthy HFCS is in moderation? All the while they're eating popsicles or drinking juice that probably has 30 grams or more of the stuff per serving?

I blame these people for the fact that I need to go to a specialty store just to buy bread with less than 6 grams of HFCS-sugar per serving.

I found the ads appalling

I think it's disgusting and I want to shake that women for acting like it's so natural to drink red juice from that jug! it's sooo dangerous and the liver can't take all of those chemicals! awful awful awful! just like the Wendy's commercial 'I'm a meatatarian it's not even funny ' it's just grosse!

lol, it reminds me of old smoking comericials, and what not........

but that wendy's meatatarian one was funny........... cause meat is good...........

mmmmmm meat............

THESE ADS ARE DISGUSTING AND I WANT TO THROW THE TV OUT OF THE WINDOW WHENEVER THEY COME ON MY SCREEN! NOTHING ABOUT JUNK FOOD IS SUPPOSE TO EVER BE IN MY APARTMENT - INCLUDING COMMERCIALS ON TV!!!

i just wish they woiuld come out and acutally say to the public WHY HFCS is so bad, if only the public knew why too much fructose is bad in your diet...
I find those ADS hilarious!
Who would buy into them????
Obviously people ARE going to buy into them though, downtownveggie. That's why they're so ridiculous.

Oh no, the people downstairs must hate you. Cry

I love those ads, it's survival of the fittest in my opinion. If you are honestly dumb enough to believe them, than go ahead and eat all the HFCS you want.

I actually had a conversation with a women who totally believed them, and was like trying to argue with me that it's perfectly fine. So people like that do exist I assure you.

I've seen them too and it makes me furious.  The marketing companies better be getting paid a bunch of money for making HFCS sound so Innocent.  I truly believe that's how we're all putting on the pounds as a society.  How can we better educate people?

Its on Teeeeeeveeeeeeeee!

So it must be true!!!

nevermind the fact that someone paid money to have them made and put on air.

Can you blame them for runnng the ads?  HFCS is getting a bad rap through WOM and on sites like this.  No wonder they want to educate the public.

Edit:  Anything is bad for you if you eat too much of it.  HFCS is not inherently bad.

I agree 100%.  EVERYTHING is fine in moderation, which is exactly what the commercials are saying.  The corn industry is a business just like anything else, advertising its product.  I would image as long as you arent eating it by the tablespoon in a concentrated form, everybody will probably be ok.  HFCS is not to blame for everybody's obesity.

And whose business is it of yours if I eat a popcicle?  Why do yall get so irate?  geebus.

Anything is bad for you if you eat too much of it.  HFCS is not inherently bad.

Agreed. It's not the best thing you COULD be eating, but a little isn't going to kill you, particularly if you have a good, balanced diet otherwise.

I completely agree. It's just a commercial. It does say "fine, in moderation", which is true. I personally view it like presidential campaign ads. You don't agree with what the politician is saying, don't vote for them. If you don't agree with what the commercial is saying (ie- HFCS is okay), then don't buy things with HFCS. I personally find them funny, no need to be outraged. And plus, it's very hard to find things without HFCS in it. It's not the healthiest thing, but moderation is the key word here.

Corporations use commercials to make their products sound good & appealing. Think of it like this, if someone were attacking your credibility, wouldn't you try to defend yourself?
