Does anyone have a good suggestion for high protein foods that are low in carbs? Or even health bars that are like that? Every time I find a high protein bar or snack the carbs are almost equal or more?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Well the reason you're having that problem is because you're looking for a bar! Tons of high protein foods have little to no carbs
-tuna
-chicken breast
-cheese
-eggs/egg whites
-beef jerkey
Just to name a few :)
How about some cottage cheese? I usually eat the 1% milkfat No Sodium Added stuff from Friendship... that with a bit of pineapple... mmmm.
my gym sells a 'meat stick' that is pretty much pure protein and 80 calories, no real fat, but really high sodium.. I only resort to it if I forgot to bring a snack, as the bars they sell are 300 calories and up.
Are you looking for a post workout snack? my usual one is half a peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread.
greek yogurt is very high in protein and low carbs
string cheese
nuts
Veggie protein like veggie burgers
I would try to have abalnce of carbs/protein/fat so maybe like an apple with pb to keep you satisified with enegry
Red Meat...but don't over do it. Only twice a week. And lafoutloud01's suggestions are all good.

I have an absolutely great food many will never have tried -- High protein, better Omega 3 than a piece of fish, loaded with vitamins and minerals -- and you need only 5 - 8 tablespoons per day for optimum health. Cuts cravings in a week and keeps you truly satisfied so you don't want to eat all that other "stuff". Add it to the foods you already eat or on it's own as it tastes great. Try Hemp Foods -- Hemp Seeds are the best bang for the calories. It improved my health so much that we started growing our own (we're farmers) and now we market it --
Hemp Foods helped me with my crohn's (was scheduled to have colon removed and improved so much the operation is now on hold) and my husband with his cholerterol and high blood pressure.
I eat a very high protein diet that's low in carbs... so I am here to help - although the posts above pretty much said it all... but I can just repeat and if something else comes to mind... I'll add it...
- Grass-fed Red Meats: Lamb, Bison, Beef, Ostrich, Elk & Goat
- Poultry: Chicken & Turkey Breast & Eggs/Egg Whites (Omega-3 Enriched)
- Fish: Salmon, Tuna, Seabass, Sable Fish, Mackerel, Sardines, Halibut, Cod, Mahi Mahi, Monkfish, Eel, Escolar, etc
- Seafood: Shrimp, Scallops, Clams, Mussels, Conch, Oysters, Lobster, etc
- Vegetarian Sources: Hemp/Hemp Seeds, Soy Beans, Pumpkin Seeds, Lentils & Nut Butters
*It's a good idea to steer clear of those bars, etc because they are full of sugar that you don't need! Try choosing one of the above before resorting to those bars!
