Hi! I'm starting a new job and it's a huge building. I'm not sure if they're going to have a fridge handy. I figured I'd pack a PBJ and apple for lunch, but as for snackI don't know what to eat! I'm looking for high protein snacks that won't go bad, besides the obvious nuts and beef jerky.

Any suggested power bars under 150 cals that fill you up? Or other things that are already pre-packaged/portioned (I have a binging problem)

Thanks for the suggestions in advance!

i like the kashi bars the best, not sure its a power bar per se, but theyre good and filling, id add a fruit, like an apple.  you could make a meal out of tuna, a kashi bar, and a fruit, maybe some nuts.

I was also going to suggest tuna, but it can get smelly =P

I don't know if hard boiled eggs can go bad or not, but I take them places with me and they seem to hold up ok =)
Oh there's also beans and chili...I love vegetarian fat free canned chili, warm or cold.  If you don't mind the sodium and the beans wouldn't cause..too much of a disturbance to your system ;P that might work well too.

I'd go for Luna bars - they're 180 calories, but probably the highest protein to lowest sugar ratio out there, while still being relatively low cal.

Also - deli sliced turkey and hummus in a 60-calorie Sonoma wrap (available at both Whole Foods and Trader Joe's)

I pack my lunch with one of those blue freezer pack thingies every day, and it stays cold for about 6 hours.  That opens up lots more options.  I like to bring cottage cheese or a sandwich for my lunch protein.  In terms of bars, I haven't found many good ones that are under 150 calories.  A huge number of them are right around 200, including the Zone Perfect bars, which are absolute heaven.  Pria bars are 110 and yummy, but they don't really fill me up.  Happy lunching!

Oh, and your new haircut looks so cute!

I have an insulated lunch bag that if I pop an ice pack into it will stay cold all day long.

You can buy snack pack thermos lunchboxes, they would be ideal for you!

kashi dark chocolate cherry bars

Look at any place selling school supplies.  The selection of insulated lunch bags is wonderful. You should be able to find one that will keep things cold all day.  That way you can take yogurt.  I used to put a juice box in the freezer to help keep things cold.

non-refrigerated - I always liked Luna bars for snacks, especially Nutz Over Chocolate.  A handful of almonds is satisfying and good for you.  Dry fruits too.

Light string cheese can last hours, completely agree with the insulated lunch bags b/c they really do work well. Carrot sticks and hummus would work okay.

Alright alright. I guess I need to buy me a lunch pack. Actually I got here and theres 2 huge breakrooms, a fridge, etc etc. Aw I'm going to see what, if anything, healthy. I don't think my PBJ is going to do the trick until 6pm.

edamame beans. you can buy them frozen at most grocery stores, cook them in the microwave at home. and bring them in a tupperware container.

they don't wont go bad, and they taste good cold.

How about a Vitamuffin?  Delicious, 100 calories, tons of vitamins, and 3g protein.  Not the cheapest though.  If you buy the mix and make them yourself, it's more cost effective.

a disgusting habit of mine is 99% fat free beef jerky- pure protein and low fat, just watch the cholesterol... also Frigo has some light mozarella string cheese that has the lowest fat/cals i've seen... besides almonds, i can't think of anything else :) good luck at the new job!!!
