High Veggie/Fiber Intake and *digestive issues*--will it ever end???

Quote  |  Reply

Yo to my CC Homies,

So for the past 40 days I have eaten more veggies, fruits and fiberous goodies than ever before in my LIFE!

Needless to say the quantities of gas in my house have increased like 10 fold between my husband and me!

Anyone else gone thru this and is there an end w/o Beano in sight?

Thanks!Embarassed

yeah I don't think it will end anytime soon. I have been eating broccoli daily for the past 2 years and it still gives me the blessing of gas. So, does beano really work then? I have a coupon!

I don't know if Beano works? I have always wanted to try it. Gas-X works ok after the fact but you know the saying "Beano before there will BE NO Gas..." Gosh I am corny!

Anyone out there use beano and want to give a testimonial?

Veggies dont cause nasty smelling gas, meat does! You might have an intolerance to wheat & if you've added a lot of whole grain products to your diet that could be the culprit. Cut wheat out of your diet & see if your gas reduces/smells better.

I am pretty sure that veggies or high fiber foods in general cause gas... just as a side note...

The smell isn't too bad---its the frequency and ickiness that my tummy has that concerns me more...

Yeah, they do cause gas, but since your gas is excessive and bothersome you could change your diet http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=caus es+of+gas+ Many people have wheat or dairy intolerances that cause excessive & bothersome gas.

It does work!! My husband still laughs at me. I bought a bottle when we started dating. Now I keep a bottle in every purse I carry. Take 2 before your veggie laden meals and you will be fine.

yeah ive got the same problem.. i doint think there is much to do about it lol

id rather be a healthy fart bag than an unhealthy non stinker lolllllll

I get terrible gas as well when I try to be healthier and eat lots of different fruits and vegetables... and then I figured out what it was. It's not vegetables per se that give me wind, it's more the fact that when I want to be really healthy I can go overboard and want to eat 15 different fruits and veg in a single day. Sometimes, when I've overloaded my system with too many different kinds of fruits and vegetables in one day, not only do I end up with severe bloating that ruins the silhouette, but I also get embarrassingly smelly gas that seems to never end.

These days, I try to  ;cut down on the number&n bsp;of different kinds of  ;ingredients (not including sp ices, herbs, and seasoning) I'd put into a single meal.. and the bloating a nd farting is gone. That' s with me having a 3  bean salad with tuna for lunch yesterday as we ll!

I havn't had a gas problem, but I have to do #2 at least twice a day!  That's annoying to me since I hate public restrooms, and spend 14 hours/day away from my home :(

Try Triple Leaf Detox green tea. Have a few cups a say and it helps settle your stomach. I'm a vegetarian so all I eat is fruits and vegetables so I feel your pain. Beano also does work! Drink lots of water also, I mean alot. It helps flush your system. The detox tea is awesome for me. And yea look into the lactose and dairy intake, that may be a factor.

Yes, I will testify that Beano works, too. We have oatmeal nearly every morning plus I take fiber tablets-- the after effects were quite bothersome. I found I needed two tablets to start with and then after a couple of months, one did the job. I stopped with the fiber tabs for a month or so and when I restarted I had to go back to two Beanos.

I find for some things, one does the job and for others (ex. lentil soup) two isn't enough. You have to experiment.
